What's the one record or disc you put on to show your rig off in all it's glory, especially when a friend comes around for a listen?

This is not about the artist or song, both could be awful, just what makes your system shine.

Vinyl :

This is a much harder choice, I have many that are incredible but the one I've picked is a pretty beaten up old peice of vinyl I paid $1 for at a junk sale.

A departure from his earlier work and a bit of a sales flop but sonically it sounds superb.

Equal first in my vinyl collection is probably Bad, Michael Jackson.

Thunderous bass, sounds amazing.

Bought this new as a kid in 1987

Ok, what about when you're home alone and you want to hear that one track/album that floats your boat?

Some of MJ work are the most dynamic for pop,  very well recorded

Yeah I couldn't close in on a single album or track, depends on my mood on the day!

Paul Simon: Graceland has a great mix of male and female vocals, soundstage, bass, dynamics, acoustic instruments etc.  Hard to go past when it comes to showing what a good system can do.

For floating my boat, my two faves are both guitar solo pieces:

Joe Satriani: "Always With Me, Always With You" from Surfing With The Alien

and

Frank Zappa "Watermelon in Easter Hay" from Joe's Garage

The better a system gets, the further into the skilled musicianship and technique you can hear, on both pieces which are totally different from each other, but both amazingly beautiful.

Been a favourite of mine since it came out.

A fist full of genres that will make your system sing, well most tracks will.IMG_3033.jpeg.5384ec75c3e53d5d91207a455a192ed0.jpeg

I used to have a pretty brutalistic set up - Pioneer speakers with 12" Woofers etc etc - and the go to CD to make the room shake was the Blade Runner 2049 Soundtrack
