I totally agree; The CD version, which I have, is crap. In fact the SQ through Qobuzz is actually better, perhaps 80% of the LP SQ. Not sure the Japanese press version of the LP I have may have contributed to the difference.

Just commenting on the Audio Nut choices. I had to look for it, but I have a 12" single of "Out of Touch" by H&O. It plays at 45 RPM, and it sounds absolutely sensational. Way better than the LP version or CD for that matter. As silly as it sounds, the 45 RPM 12" singles always sounded great. It was as if they were able to breathe. I've discovered that I have about a dozen of these. One of them, "I Hear Motion" by the Models, also sounds insane! I remember that they were a bit of a "thing" in the 1980's. Does anyone have any of these?

Good point.  Yes, I picked up about a dozen over the years, and they do largely sound amazing.  These come to mind:

Spandau Ballet - Gold;  Pseudo Echo - Funky Town;  Lisa Stansfield - All around the world;  Tom Tom Club - Wordy Rappinghood;  Was not was - Out come freaks.

I was always a bit partial to Live Art by the Flecktones, the one before that was Alchemy by Dire Straits. Both fine examples of what I like to hear live...

I have this LP! (I think the same version).  It was in the huge box of LPs that my mum left me when she passed.  Truthfully I've never listened to it but this has inspired me to give it a spin.  👍

That is very cool

I could just imagine the Pseudo Echo version of Funky Town. I can even listen to it on YouTube. 😂

Well I thought I had a favourite until I played Simon and Gartunkel

” Bridge Over Troubled Water “ The MOFI pressing.

I must confess I have never been a Simon and Garfunkel fan. Until today.

This pressing is so well remastered it takes my system to a new level. IMO.

Just make sure you lift your head off the back of the couch. The crosstalk makes it nearly 3D.

If someone else has a copy, can you please either confirm, or let me know I’m totally crazy, with no ear for detail.😊

Any of the "Dynamic Experience" CD's produced by STS Digital in the Netherlands really gives my system a surge. The warning about watching the volume is right on the money.

I absolutely agree most of Dire Straits Albums are mixed extremely well which reflects in their SQ..

Actually Mark  Knopfler’s “ The Studio Albums 1996-2007 “

For CD’s these give a very good account of themselves.

This would have been one of the first records I bought with my own money. It still holds up as a favourite, amazing sound, a sci-fi back story and thanks for reminding me I’ve had this record for 48 years now!

And you’ve just reminded me that I’ve owned “Please Please Me” since 1963. It’s still playable and it’s mono. It has one problem and that is that someone turned the bass control to zero during recording!

This is the version to get  off  Discogs. Rated as the pressing to get. Bought it myself, and yes sounds brilliant. Is pressed at same plant their single Take a Chance on me, however, it is the B side, The Main Thing , (extended mix) sounds the business. This is the reason I bought this pressing of Avalon.

This CD album gives my set-up a thorough work-out.

Plenty of passages testing highs, mids, lows, male vocals, female vocals, hard driving passages, ambient breaks, light and shade. Obviously well produced, all tracks  sound great on my system!

Love that song, I've got that on vinyl, sounds pretty good.

I saw them live a couple of times back in the day at Twin Towns on the Tweed. Ah, those were the days, used to regularly see Wickety Wak there, showing my age now 😄.

Anyone remember them?
