Godot Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 “The music sailed out into the night then upward towards the skies, travelling on that thin border between reality and imagination.” This would have been one of the first records I bought with my own money. It still holds up as a favourite, amazing sound, a sci-fi back story and thanks for reminding me I’ve had this record for 48 years now! 7 1
April Snow Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 So many - it depends on the person and what music they like and enjoy - then I make a choice. BUT I have been known to pull out Joan Baez, Diamonds & Rust, US 1975 original pressing coz it does sound incredible. 4 1

And here's the engineer from McIntosh on record in a youtube video complaining of the album's lack of bass (spruiking the brand's equaliser). Bah, I say, sir. Humbug. Fighting words. 1 2 1
vinilink Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 from the Sheffield Lab DD vinyl. James Newton Howard and Friends Dave Grusin - Discovered Again Thelma Houston & Pressure Cooker - I've got the music in me just to name a few from SL. These recordings will make the all the chains in the system shine or will reveal how sh*tty the system is! And the Janis Ian Breaking Silence, way too many to choose from. 4
bob_m_54 Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Vulfpeck - Sleepify... but the remastered version... Much more air and deeper blacks.. 1

Agree Folk Singer is great. i reckon Private Investigation was the best album they ever came up with, they dont write music like Telegraph Road anymore..... Even the track private Investigation, both i cant get enough of. 5
Addicted to music Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Don't get this on CD if you have any 5.1 set up! this will blow your mind how well its done on this format, it will make any 5.1 sing..... the clarity on this live recording KILLS there original 1976 Hotel California LP done in a studio. The imaging and placement of instruments are pin point accurate to the video image, the clarity of the audience participation such as clapping and whistling are mind blowing......on CD the down mix destroys this clarity and becomes a blur.... This is a great example of what digital can do.... 5
Addicted to music Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Wanna good analog recording, best get this on original recording, one of the better recordings thats done right. 4
Addicted to music Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 if you can still get it, made in australia, 2

thimmy118 Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 One of my favourites on LP is Avalon by Roxy Music. Ambience, dynamic range and extended bass. 10
AvSat44 Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Just commenting on the Audio Nut choices. I had to look for it, but I have a 12" single of "Out of Touch" by H&O. It plays at 45 RPM, and it sounds absolutely sensational. Way better than the LP version or CD for that matter. As silly as it sounds, the 45 RPM 12" singles always sounded great. It was as if they were able to breathe. I've discovered that I have about a dozen of these. One of them, "I Hear Motion" by the Models, also sounds insane! I remember that they were a bit of a "thing" in the 1980's. Does anyone have any of these? 1

Teee Posted January 30, 2024 Author Posted January 30, 2024 This is exactly what I hoped for, a list of new music that 'pops' and some new genre's to explore. Awesome.

It was in the huge box of LPs that my mum left me when she passed. Truthfully I've never listened to it but this has inspired me to give it a spin. 2

You can pick them up at a good price too without selling a kidney Just be sure to get a Near Mint one. 2
