kroozzy Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Further Information: JBL – 2256G SUBWOOFER DRIVER 15 INCH – 1 PAIR I have owned this pair of JBL 2256G SUBWOOFER DRIVERS for about 5 – 7 years. I purchased them off a JBL Enthusiast set up in the boxes as pictured. Today is the first time I have unscrewed the woofers to take some photos, sheeeezzzzz these are HUGE, I had no idea !!! CONDITION - Both Drivers are in excellent condition - 9/10 IMPEDANCE - Driver 1 – 4.0 ohms - Driver 2 – 4.4 ohms I tested the impedance at the end of the external speaker cable, not at the actual speaker terminals. Due to being a “Dual Voice Coil”, there are two sets of terminals per woofer, I wasn’t sure where to probe the multi meter, so I used the end of the speaker cable to be safe and to ensure I did not do anything incorrect. From what I googled, the Impedance ohms is different for wiring in “series” or “parallel” . I have never altered the wiring since purchasing them and I do not understand how they are wired. Coming from the Amplifier , the speaker cable separates internally in the box enclosure with each end going to separate terminals sets on the woofer. On each set of terminals there is a “jumper wire” from one connecter to the other . There are no crossovers, the woofers are wired directly. I will assume the person who would be interested in these woofers knows everything about them , understands the wiring setup and has waited a millennium for an excellent pair to come up for sale. I have no pets and do not smoke, so there are no odours in any of my equipment. I did a search on SNA, I could not find any previous sales for the JBL-2256G SubWoofers. Infact, a google search for JBL-2256G only provided one page of results, that is insane that there is not pages upon pages of information. The JBL-2256G SubWoofer was used in the JBL VT4881 Vertec Array Series. I have included the 2 page brochure in the photos that provides specification for the JBL-2256G SubWoofer. SPECIFICATIONS & INFORMATION The VT4881 is a compact, lightweight, vented enclosure housing one 15" woofer. This advanced component is fitted with dual voice coils and a compliance capable of nearly a 3" peak-to-peak cone excursion for exceptional output at very low frequencies. - Advanced technology component: Differential Drive®, dual voice coil, Direct Cooled™ cone transducer - Independently accessible voice coils, enabling external parallel or series wiring - 380 mm (15 in) dia. - 76 mm (3 in) Dual Coil, with three 60 oz ceramic magnets, Differential Drive - Nominal Impedance: 8 ohms each coil (independently accessible) - Sensitivity: 90 dB, 2.83 Vrms, @ 1 m (25 Hz - 85 Hz) Extra Information I copied of the internet : it calls for a 4cf enclosure tuned to 30 hz as a standard basic setup. most "pro" subs don't do much below 50 hz, this one will truly play flat to 30, with about 20mm of linear one way xmax. also, if you use a larger enclosure, like 5-6cf and tune it to 20 hz, it will do that as well. its dual coils are rated at around 800 watts true rms, and as much as 5000 watts peak, from what i have read. so, for home or studio use, it will take whatever you throw at it, since it is JBL's top of the line 15" true subwoofer driver. of course, meant for pro touring grade use as well, per JBL specs and standards with appropriate enclosure/processing/ amplification etc. I do not know the accuracy of the above information, please do your own research. SHIPPING The only way I can think of to have these shipped is to screw timber to the top and sides of the stumpy feet on the boxes and safely enclosed the woofer so it is not exposed. Each box is about 600mm x 600mm x 600mm and weighs about 30kg. I can drop off at a Courier within Geelong. PICK UP Pick up is welcome, I live in Leopold, Geelong.
