Yamaha NS-1000M any good?

Is this speaker (YAMAHA NS-1000M) suitable for 2 Ch stereo music. My intention is to hook it up with a Sansui 607 or 707 amp.

i understand that the letter M in the model denotes “monitor” . What does that exactly mean.

My answer would be a straight yes for the first part of the question.

It should be Ok for what you intend. The monitor is just a label implying professional music studio use but the majority of customers since 1974 were mostly domestic home hifi I believe. Look up all the famous posts both here and outside for these speakers. They were not designed in the era of home theatre but should work.
