I'm curious to learn about any other speaker models you've encountered that support this observation. The grand monuments the Wilson Audio Sasha mk2, Magnepan 3.7i, magico A3, Harbeth 40.3 and others. 1

I agree A3 are not in the same level as your m3 . But someone asked me why I like the b&w 800 d3 and what I compared them too. Edited April 9, 2024 by audiohifiaudio

I have listened to all of those. The Sasha speakers are excellent, but they are quite challenging to set up properly and require a well-treated room. Once these two factors are taken care of, they sing beautifully with a commanding soundstage. The A3 is the entry-level speaker in Magico's range. It is possible that the sound may be too clinical and dry with limited bass notes in the mid and lower spectrum. The other speakers are good for simple music at low volume, but there is nothing to be particularly excited about. I would like to extend a special invitation to you to come and listen to the amazing capabilities of the Magico S5s and Horm speakers in my room/setup. I can assure you that it will be a truly unique and enjoyable experience. 3
brodricj Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 That's quite a compliment for A3 because it's a much cheaper speaker than the B&W you are comparing it with. The S5 owner with a highly curated and optimized system, when contemplating upgrade options will probably move up in the Magico family and buy an S5Mk2 or S7 and stay within that Magico DNA and thus preserve all that previous curating effort. The most cost effective smart money here is a used pair of S7.

Correct. This observation generally applies to all ported speakers. Magico will never build a ported speaker. 1

But when I had the Sasha 2 in my room the b&w 800 d3 was in another league. But having said all the speakers I mention are very good but there can only be one champion in my room. He's salivating over S5Mk3, and I'm winding him up to buy M7. A2A has a pair of M7 with Soulution electronics in its Melbourne showroom. Maybe @chanh should jump on the kerosene canary and go check them out. 2

The question is, whether @AccuMagi coughs up the big bucks for S5Mk3, or he settles on a used pair of S7 which is far more wife friendly financially responsible. Edited April 9, 2024 by brodricj 1

Every one who came around said is that music coming out of those little speakers ,they were all astounded . Then i came across the EPITOME reference towers from another SNAyer . And now i'm astounded and best part of all there made in Australia. I"M pretty sure Greg Osborn used to work for Klipsch and he has been building his speakers since the 80s. A lot of high end speaker manufactures are still using treated paper cones. IF you want to take a drive down to here to Australind sometime and come and have a listen your more than welcome. Regards Steve. Greg never worked for Klipsch. He's been playing with building speakers as a passion for a long time and after retiring from the Police force he decided he would turn it into a business. They have been getting steadily better over the years. Greg is most proud of the Sultan of Brunei trying a range of high end speakers and settling on his speakers. They are beautifully finished with the cabinets being made by John Woodhead who makes beautiful speaker boxes. They are going to be a totally different flavour to the Magico house sound and a even more so the Line Magnetics which are a (looks wise) homage to some of the WE/Lansing and newer GIP stuff. LPG 1
