Anyone aware of a source for music dvd besides JB HIFI.  Specifically live concerts since 1990?   Also what are your thoughts on sound quality same as CD, worse better?

Cant speak to what might be around in Aus but the first two results on Google are Dvdland & Sanity, both Australian sites.

Here in New Zealand I generally use RealGroovy, but there are several other sources including Trademe.

I have both DVD & Blu-ray.

Some of my concerts are:

  • Peter Gabriel: Secret World Tour
  • Pink Floyd: Pulse (original not the remaster)
  • Led Zepplin: Celebration Concert at the O2 (2007)
  • America: at the Sydney Opera House (2004)
  • Gordon Lightfoot: Live at Reno
  • David Gilmour: Remember That Night - Live at The Royal Albert Hall
  • Eagles: Hell Freezes Over
  • The Band: The last Waltz (one of the best 70's era concerts produced on film)

Just some of our concert DVDs. I find that my Blu-Ray player has better sound output than my DVD player. Not surprising as the BR Player outputs more data. Sound quality is excellent on all of these, and several DVDs offer multiple sound output formats.
I have the music CD of Pink Floyd: Pulse and it was ordinary to say the least. The DVD however is excellent, I quite often play it with the TV off and listen to it like any other CD.

I find all the DVDs have CD quality sound or better, so no complaints from me.
