cafe67 Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Don’t hate me Appreciate it’s a touchy subject , as RSD seems to have long moved away from what it was supposed to be…..yay an another limited swift coloured Ep. but and a big but , as there anything out there that people are hoping to get or would be interested in getting? for me - OMD, Junk Culture, Nine Horses Snow Borne Sorrow and maybe the Propaganda Dr Mabuse Ep.
scuzzii Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 Was fairly underwhelmed by the list. (As has been the case for the last few). Reckon it's been many years since I purchased a RSD release. 1
audiofeline Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 I was interested in the Talking Heads. Was in a line for over 2hrs outside Discrepancy Records (Vic), to find that it hadn't arrived, so was able to reserve a copy when it lands in the country. I find that there tends to be one RSD record every few years that I'm willing to buy, and note other releases that I might have bought if the prices were lower. I'm not interested in a disc because it's on a piece of coloured plastic, I'm interested in the releases with music that hasn't been released before and won't be available again. There is one disc that I missed out on several years ago that is now fetching over $400 on ebay. I dislike that the day has become a feeding frenzy for flippers and people who are into it for the music miss out because of it. 2
Ian McP Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 (edited) I attend Record Store Day more for the joyous vibe than the search for some purposedly "rare" vinyl. Many titles end up unsold and can be bought at a later date. Bands playing live instore are the attraction for me. Plug Seven Collingwood had two up and coming bands playing that I enjoyed Zelkova had to laugh when they announed this song's by Ginger Baker's Air Force. A band that was around 20 - 30 years before they were born. https://zelkovabanda.bandcamp.com/track/oj-ti-momce Evening News https://eveningnews.bandcamp.com/album/new-world these guys were great! They had their album on sale too Down the road Emma Donovan was playing at Northside Records I didn't even attempt to get in, the place was packed! Luckily Chris Gill of Northside had an outside PA set up and punters could listen in comfort from the outdoor bar across the road! Edited April 29, 2024 by Ian McP
