Eve2009 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Item: Velodyne DD18 subwoofer Price: $3500 Location: Sydney Condition: new Shipping: prefer pick up as it's very heavy, Reason FS: I plan to have 2 subs in my system, however I could not get another DD18 from dealer as model DD18 was replaced by DD 18 plus, I love to have a match pair of subwoofers, therefore I would be interested in another DD18, From what I was told rrp of DD18 plus is $9k, DD18 was $7.5k, so I'm asking for $3.5k is fair for new old model, I haven't used it as my house is not completed yet (very soon), there are lots of unexpected delay if you have ever built your own house (not project home). I bought This DD18 new in Sydney Audio shop, Photos: coming soon when I get home this afternoon. Edited February 2, 2014 by Eve2009
betty boop Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Wow serious bargain ! Good luck with the sale. Ps with dual subs the best recommended positioning(ref harman sub posn paper) is front back so in that case could use dd18 up back and plonk dd18+ front centre. Prob save you lot of money and prob nothing in it for end result Can understand though if that doesnt suit and want to run both upfront, i do the same with dual dd15s 1
jaenschw Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Hi, Can you please tell me what colour the DD18 is? Thanks
drteflon Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Oh man... maybe it's time to list my SVS SB13... Edited February 2, 2014 by drteflon 1
Eve2009 Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Hi Jaenschw, It's in gloss black colour, from what I'm aware this DD18 is around 64kg, so 2 people needed. @ Al, I'm planning to have 2 subs both sides, not front & back, therefore I need 2 identical subs, Regards, Eve Edited February 2, 2014 by Eve2009 1

Sounds like (...) you're doing the right thing and building the new house around the sound system
thesnodger Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Hi, I don't really need my DD15 plus anymore since I upgraded my speakers, however, it's a slightly smaller model AND it's a PLUS, it is gloss black however! Oh well!

Hi, what would you like to do with DD15+? I can get another DD15+ to make a pair, are you interested in swap? Regards, Eve Edited February 3, 2014 by Eve2009 1
thesnodger Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I'll have to have a proper listen to my setup now without the DD15+ running in it. It really just adds more sub-bass frequencies now, below 20Kz as the Rockports themselves go pretty low. I rarely have it past volume 10 (out of 50) which shows just how subtle it is! So, if I think I can live without it, I'm happy to move it on if the price is right, but I very much doubt I'd want a swap. Can you 'chain' DD18 to another DD18 in the same way you can with the PLUS series? The box is about 18-20 months old (I'll have to check exactly when I get home) and it's only ever been used for music. If I remember correctly they come with a 5 year warranty so it still has plenty of life left in that respect.
psychometrics1 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Hi. I have a DD18 purchased new in Canberra in 2010 via Merlin Audio that I would sell for $3500. It is in perfect condition but if you wanted it, you would have to freight from Perth where I now work. I have the original packaging. kind regards, Kym

Demondes Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Wow this thread is like a marketplace for sub's. Got to love stereonet when it bring's out a whole lot of options

SNIP I thought that with my DD15 s since the big Maggies go low enough for what I want, except ... my room dimensions and the placement of the Maggies and listening chair conspire to make nulls in the 30s and 40s. Subs placed at other locations are still needed to fill the holes.
John Sawley Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I have a DD18 in perfect condition in Sydney I would sell for that price or a bit less if you are still looking for one. John 0434 286 414
Eve2009 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) @:)al : do you set up Front & Back for home theatre or 2 channels? I thought F&B set up for home theatre only & these subs do not need to be the same, while stereo set-up needs 2 identical subs, am I right? @ Thesnodger: yes, you can chain DD18 up (multi-subs) for home theatre, @ other: I love to have another DD18 providing fair price hope you understand. Cheers Eve Edited February 8, 2014 by Eve2009 1

Cheers Eve eve, I run two DD15s that look like stereo subs but infact one extends my mains to make them full range and gets used for both 2ch and ht (my denon processor sees them as large), the other sub is purely for HT LFE use only. at freq you run subs there is no such thing as stereo. you cant tell where the signal is coming from, also if you want the benefit of twin subs for placement, front back is what is recommended as the best location and optimum number of subs. this would be for both ht and 2ch. ref. harman sub white paper. ofcourse if you want the sexy look of two subs up front then yeah you will have to consider how you hook them up, whether as L&R subs and not sure how you would eq, ie to blend into each main ? or run them as recommended by velo where you daisy chain and they run as a master and slave for best performance back at main listening position. 2
