First stage done, curtains up & for the moment put all back how it was, with a bigger rug that we already had.

Just waiting on the sparky now for new GPO's on the other side of the room, once done I will shift the system over in front of the curtains.

If I were you I would have shifted the system anyway and used extension cords whilst waiting for the sparky ;)

Don't worry I thought about it, Mrs was doing a "Ken Bruce", with stuff all over the place, for the curtain install ...so to keep things good, set it back as it was... "for now". If all goes well the sparky should come next week to install my dedicated lines on the other side of the room, once done I will move the system over.🎼

Then the fun begins setting it up and dialling the speakers in position as I have more room to work with on that side.

Hi there,

looks like a good project you are embarking on with your room. 👌

Personally I think the biggest issue with the 'window wall' (and be grateful it is not a French window bay) is going to be rattling. Just make sure you minimise that. If there is a sliding door involved, it makes the rattling issue even worse again - I speak from pained experience. 🙃

I get the impression that once you flip the room around, your listening chairs will be along a wall. Now that would be a big concern IMHO if true, and I suggest you think about some heavy absorption behind the listeners' heads.

cheers

I hope @Bass13 does not mind me commenting. It was me who suggested that he flip the system around. The reason why is because of the configuration of his room. At the moment, the rear wall is that big window that you see. The front wall has a door on the left. This means that the speakers are asymmetrically placed in the room - the right speaker is too close to the right wall, and the left speaker has a huge space to the left of it. If he flipped the system around the speakers can be more symmetrical, but at the cost of early reflections from the rear wall (as you correctly pointed out).

I said that it would cost him nothing to try, just an afternoon of moving stuff around (I offered to help). I did not expect he would go this far - replacing curtains, hiring a sparky to move wall sockets. I am crossing my fingers and I hope that it works.

Thank you Grant,

Hopefully if all goes well, I feel we should be ok for the rattling,...🙏

Yes I thought of that, to be honest,  I'm at the stage at considering/doing what is required,  including roof treatment and covering the wall behind the listener heads, with what ever nice looking treatment that works.

I will say these couches work as a massive absorption, "Big thick" when testing the sound pulling the couches in and out of the the room, they made a massive difference in cleaning up the image & sound.

All good Keith, even when I try something, I do it properly otherwise why do it.

As for the Curtains, they work very well, even where the system sits now, it "the room" definitely has less noise floor, so that's a positive.

Sparky coming Monday....will have the system shifted over by the end of next week, will go from there....🎼🙏

Oh yeah, now I remember. The other reason for rotating the system around is because that window opens out to the driveway and a cul-de-sac. On the day I visited, the neighbours were out chatting and there was some renovations being done to the house opposite. I remarked that sitting so close to the window would increase the noise floor, so it may be beneficial to flip the system around so that there is less noise. Heavy curtains would also attenuate the noise from neighbours.

The amount of testing one needs to do, to find the best/optimum position in the room for my speakers, is so time consuming...

Anyway a quick update it seems that firing down the room is the winner in my room, still not finished testing the final position from the wall, had to call it a day...

This time sitting position, will be 3/4 down the room, advised the Mrs the large light on the celling is getting removed, but haven't broken the news that The Kiss (German: Der Kuss) portrait is also going, to make room for treatment...

So all is idle, for the moment to be continued very soon...

They have been put there to be out of the way, until testing continues for there final position, they will be somewhere around where the tape is on the floor from the prince album , how far up or back still to be finalised.

The couches have just been put back as they were to make the room accessible for now, the Hifi equipment & rack will be in front of the window instead of the couches once setup. The Amp will be in the middle of the speaker's...

Great thread and liking your journey here.

Can I ask though, what are those speakers?

Thanks.

Lights have been changed to make room for the treatment, 3 dedicated GPO's are also now in place, pictures before the mess was cleaned, some plastering & painting to go, before continuing on.

Its been a slow process getting things done in my room, trying to organise 3 to 4 quotes from relevant tradie's to get things done, has been nothing but a nightmare...

No wonder things are going to crap out there, the price difference for the same job with the same materials vary up to double in price, from relevant trades, regardless what trade they do" electrical, plasterers, carpenters, curtain makers, renderers etc.. unfortunately I've completely lost faith in most of them out there, as it seems its all about Profit taking.👈

There are a few out there that do an exceptionally job for a fair price, but they are hard to find, when you do find them, hang onto them..🙏

Waiting on more quotes for the next task in the room, getting a bit annoyed now, moving the furniture in & out of the room while work is been done, I'm lucky my Mrs is a great women who understands my love/passion for my HiFi...

The thing I miss the most is listening to my system...😩

Well, they look gorgeous. My local shop recently started dealing with the brand and has a set of every model of this series in stock for demo.

Having recently been through some room remodelling and being impatient to have everything up and running again, I feel your pain.

CORSINI Acoustic Solutions, Christian onsite , speaker placement....seems to be the best here according to the measurements, actually I can hear it too, they disappear & heaps of depth.

She's going down to 30hhz and rolling off around 19k, response is pretty good so far on the dollies...

Now we test on the floor....

And on the floor, even better again, I need longer speaker cables...

Red where it was at the start, Blue where it is now, and with room treatment, which is the next step.... it will be even better.🙏
