The power button seems out of place when they use switches for all the other functions.  Not a fan of the design TBH, but would like to hear how it sounds.

If It's still used in many amplifiers and pre amplifiers, and will be for some time, It's hardly prehistoric.

And thats why the audio electronics industry is so far behind...

 I’m taking about this,

Yeah there are some still that want to control volume in the analog domain in the preamp "phono stage" and not in the digital domain. Both these integrates have analog phono stages. BTW it looks in you pic like it could be 0ne of  Alps "Blue Velvet" or better an Alps "Black Beauty" motorized pot, which isn't bad anyway.

I'm fine and prefer digital domain, so long as it's used 75% or higher so my OCD alter ego brain stops saying to me is it "bit stripping"?

That's why I just love "full volume analog output stage gain settings adjustments" so you can set the digital domain volume for almost full up for the loudest you listen too, then my other half stops saying things to me while I'm trying to listen to music.

If your paranoid in the digital domain about bit stripping,  there are other ways to do this,  even your lightspeed attenuator is much better than any mechanical pot.    What many who are at the design stage don’t realise is that volume control is a huge factor in SQ.   Implement the better options and your almost there,  we are in 2024,  you use digital control implementation  to control the level of your analog signal, main objective is: no wear or tear so the control is for life!   Plenty of options to do this!   And when it’s done it’s  also precision with better specs that also comes with better channel matching.   Volume control chips have a 0.05db max tolerance between channels,  use the DAC chips digital volume control feature will possible be better!
In this case it’s 2 steps forward, and 5 steps back!

Yes it was, and even that I always stated was not as good as going digital domain vc if used at over 75% volume.

A good way to proove it to oneself is to go direct from a fixed source output (no volume control digital or analog) using the queitest cd you have to make sure it's  not going to be too loud, and then see which domain volume control (digital or analog) sounds the closest to it.

Wadia knew about "bit stripping" that's why they did this in their top dacs with the analog output gain setting links with the output stages gains, to combat "bit stripping" when the volume was controlled in the digital domain.
