Honestly, this is nothing. Have you seen feedback in previous years when there was a big change? 🤣

This is going to make me seem ancient, but what happened to courtesy and an understanding that not everything revolves around the individual?

It is really surprising ( to me anyway ) that so many are so negative. They either don't know or don't care about the countless hours of work  by so many, happening behind the scenes.

As @Marc has correctly stated , we are comfortable with what we know, but in technology, time waits for nobody and familiarity will come sooner rather than later.

It’s understandable. Change effects everyone differently.

I’ve been involved in a few rollouts over 15 years working in Fed Govt departments.
Usually functionality is the same but the look or placement of things has moved. And the usual responses were things like now my saved favourites don’t work. Or it’s not where it usually is.
This is despite the fact that most people’s resumes say they are “quick learners who adapt well to change” 😂

It just takes time to get used to something new. After a few months it becomes the new old.

Is this a good place to report bugs? I will anyway, and will move it if requested.

In the main "Categories" view I get this:

image.png.fd8232ac0bb4b7e2097e9fdf69a519aa.png

If I open the "JBL PC600..." ad it tells me that it's in the centre channel  category.

image.png.5d7fd284a519611ce4158e8026880ca1.png

Maybe it was put there originally and then moved, but just noting it here FYI.

It was posted in the wrong category originally, because there was no Centre Channel category. I created the category and moved the ad, but it often takes time for things to update 🙂

34 Active Ads for $100,000+ value in less than 24 hours. Few bugs.

Good start IMO. 👍

I do customer change projects for a living and sympathise with anyone who seeks to improve or innovate products and services. People just don’t adapt very well.

Good job on the new classifieds, it looks like a great step in the right direction.

I might have missed this feature, but I can't seem to find a way to mark new ads as 'read'.  On the forums I'd use the 'mark forum as read' button but on the ads I can see a red dot icon to highlight new ads, but I can't find a way to say that I've seen the ad.  Have I missed a button somewhere?

That's not a functionality that has been built-in, as it's not a "forum".
Building it into the Activity Feeds however may be a potential future addition.

trying to post a new add in the new classifieds first required field is product name after entering the correct description(luxman 505 mk11) it says unable to find a match entered it again manually same result
to me it is a bit like the ebay style of listing which is not user friendly.

Hey Ray,

Product name isn’t one of the fields.

Luxman is listed as a brand.

Then you enter the model below.

Hope this helps

Well, new adverts look awful to me, over complicated , categories all over the place and confusing layout

I doubt anybody will give a fk, but at least I’m being honest

for instance

There’s one advert in accessories, yet there’s 6 sub categories so which one is it in

there 6 adverts in analogue but 7 subcategories, so to look at what’s for sale, I’ve got to go into each one.

Et etc etc etc

Firstly, if your screen looks like that, then there is a problem. It would be helpful to us to let us know your device type and browser.

Next part of your post. "There’s one advert in accessories, yet there’s 6 sub categories so which one is it in "

Click into Accessories, and below the subcategories, it shows ALL ads from the subcategories. Or, as you can see, it shows you the subcategories with what is contained in each:

image.png

OR, you can click View All Ads from the main classifieds index and it's essentially the same as it used to be: https://www.stereonet.com/forums/classifieds/?do=viewAll

There are multiple ways to browse, and you will find what works best for you.

First things first though, let's get that view of yours fixed. Let us know your browser and device so that can be sorted.

I'm not going to be well liked for saying this, but browsing a site like this is always going to be a better experience on a laptop/desktop. But once the initial kinks are ironed out, as I have said many, many times in this thread already, then we will work on layout and styling - particularly for mobile, which has not had much testing time to date.

We don't have the funds nor the resources to develop a dedicated app, and we're not a eBay or Gumtree with unlimited funds. Heaven forbid, when I try and raise some revenue from the classifieds, everyone jumps up and down, so the idea of developing a dedicated app has been well scrapped some time ago.

@cafe67 on my laptop this is the view

ScreenShot2024-05-01at20_40_36.png.15b00d9455af6ea81e378e0a88ab858b.png

I guess you're running into a mobile phone view issue that will soon be weeded out.

Still having trouble

1. Entering Brand, it appears not accepting diy/custom?

2.. Entering Type ie, Valve?

Thanks

I'm deleting diy/custom. Why are you trying to enter that?

DIY is already in there as a brand and working.

Valve, is not a Type. An Amplifier, or even a Valve Amplifier is a Type.

What's the problem, exactly?

Click on Accessories, for example (the Parent category) and it will show you ALL accessories.
Or you can drill down further into subcategories if you like.

OR, just click VIew All Ads on the index and view everything in one list.

20c on refresh: you guys are being very opinionated on how you want folks to drive things, which is fine if the work you put on them is small...but the 'add new type' etc is a user pain, let's be honest. With that said, one common way I browse is to only look at aus adverts, or to snoop commercial adverts. What is the recommended way for the former now? Previously I had a bookmark, but seems I might have to search now? The images being present in the listing are not ideal at all on the wee mobile screen - having them not visible or optional via profile would make looking much easier.

The add new type is temporary. We're using the users themselves to help us build the database. Core "Types" are already in the database. As explained earlier in this thread, this is just so we can easily establish what other types are required. At some point, the ability to add new Types will be switched off. What Type did  you need to add? What was the difficulty you had with it?

You will shortly be able to filter all by Commercial, or by Country/Region etc. In fact the functionality is already there, it's just not obvious. As also previously mentioned numerous times in this thread, first things first. Then we will be able improve layout and styling.

As previously mentioned in this thread numerous times, we have acknowledged image handling sucks. It's being worked on right now.

Actually, I don't think it's us that's been opiniated. We've actually been trying to point things out that may have been overlooked. Most things that have been "reported" have actually been due to not giving it enough time or yet exploring the multiple different ways of viewing things.
