The Rhino High Fidelity series has been absolutely stellar thus far and this is the most exciting (for me) title yet. Plenty of buzz online and I think this will sell out like The Cars debut and Marquee Moon.

Not trying to brag but I already have a UK  Vertigo swirl first press which is enough for me but appreciate the heads-up. Its a killer sounding record though and one I use to demo the system with. If anyone picks this up id be happy for you to come over so we can compare the two though

I've collected each super deluxe version over the years, this was never done which always surprised me

Is this worth picking up if I already own the 2005 DMM release by Earmark? All of Earmark's vinyl reissues that I own from the early 2000s all sound fantastic so I'm hesitent to shell out the coin for something that may not sound better.

Hard to say, I thought similar as my version was also cut from analog masters but as a fan and collector I grabbed this. Kevin Gray involved, that's a good enough argument to check it out, plus some liner notes etc.

 

It's a real shame this never got the super deluve treatment they've given a selection of other releases, but that may be due to a lack of material available from this period of their career and your etc.

I'm looking forward to hearing this with Kevin Gray anyway, my other copy sounds awesome, if this is the same or slightly better I'm ok with that.

....I've got the Anno Domini box coming end of month too. I'm super pumped for that, I've only ever owned those releases on CD

Rhino have previously released 3 reissues of this album, I wonder if this version is a reissue of a reissue?

Direct from the master tapes with Kevin Gray twiddling the dials then pressed in Germany

I can see the devo listing only. So is sabbath sold out?

what’s been peoples experience between purchase from rhino US vs local?

(I haven’t yet bought a RHF release but the sabbath is def tempting).

interesting that they saw fit to list devo as local and not sabbath. These being the next two RHF titles.

Guess I will create an account on US site and then click thru to the point where I find the total w shipping and decide, nah too exxy!

15.99 USD appears to be their standard shipping cost for any number of items. That's what they charged for a recent order of mine with 4 LPs, pretty reasonable really (I have a recent 4 for the cost of 3 jazz titles deal on their way). The discount code appears to work multiple times, have used it for a couple of orders so far.

Thank you @AFCAD the code worked! And shipping is indeed 15.99US which is reasonable. My early cynicism is unfounded.

Weird though that Australian Warners site has to retail these RHF for more than we can get from US direct.

I bought both Devo and Black Sabbath titles from the US site.I have both Cars titles and they were both excellent. The first record came very quickly from the US( just over a week), the second Candy O took around 6 weeks to arrive. Hopefully that was a one off.

I've got every title so far and the shipping has been hit and miss. When they released the Doobie Brothers and Herbie Hancock titles I was sent two Herbie Hancock records. They were quick enough getting me out another record but they sent the same Herbie Hancock title again. Finally 3rd time lucky they sent the right record and I was left with 3 copies of Herbie Hancock which I'm not complaining about.

 

The Van Morrison LP never arrived and I had to wait 60 days for them to consider it lost and send a replacement. They always made good on everything in the end but yeah, a few ups and downs.

I missed out on this one as I had hoped it may show up on Warners Australia but have since been told the reason it is not for Australia is because Warners Australia do not have the label rights to this one.

 

I have American Beauty & the Van Morrison one - and they are superb, so I am sure BS and Devo will be stellar too.

I am going through a first time Rhino purchase at the moment for another package. It's progress is like watching grass grow:

 

- posted on 9 May

- arrived in Australia and cleared customs on 17 May

- handed over to partner carrier on 20 May

- has been sitting as "Processed at Delivery Terminal" since then (now 30 May)

 

So, nothing is happening particularly quickly.....

I would just order from the US site in future to avoid any more problems. The shipping costs are reasonable especially if you buy a couple of records at a time.
