Dazz Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Hi All Was wanting to replace my aging Marantz SR6003 from 2008 so settled on 2, the Anthem MRX540 and Marantz Cinema 40. I have since purchased the Cinema 40 as its on special at present. I have attached a few pics. Set up was a breeze. Sound wise it has a more precise sound than my old unit. It did take me some time to "tune" the sound to my liking. Finish on this unit is excellent. I have even changed the colour of the lights on the front panel. This unit does not have a AM/FM tuner which is no great lost as I never used it on my old one anyway. While my TV and this unit both have eARC, I am using the toslink instead as it give me more sound options (I like the DTS Neural:X) as the eARC only seems to give me dolby surround or stereo. Otherwise very happy with this unit and the sound. Cheers 1 1

Congratulations. The Cinema 40 was an obvious choice with the discount. Am very surprised that Toslink has more sound options than eARC. Please check the settings on TV; manufacturers tend to use different names which can confuse...
Dazz Posted June 24, 2024 Author Posted June 24, 2024 Thanks I will have a look but I have looked under the HDMI settings and dont see anything in there to change. Output sound format is on auto.
Guest Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 What is your TV, how have you connected the HDMI cable from TV to AVR? And is it a HDMI 2 cable? Also, try changing the output sound format. You will need to check the HDMI settings on TV and AVR. Sorry, I cannot be more specific because I do not have your combination.
Dazz Posted June 25, 2024 Author Posted June 25, 2024 I have the LG GX 65" OLED which has eARC on HDMI 2. That is connected to the eARC HDMI on the AV. I have gone through all the settings on both the AV and TV. Will have another look this weekend and probably look through the manuals I have downloaded as well. Will also take up you suggestion on changing the sound format to see if that makes a difference (its set on auto at present). While the new Menu on the cinema line looks neat and tidy, I have found that the menu system on my old SR6003 to be have been more flexible. There is a sound option that is not on the new AV. The multi-channel stereo uses all the speakers which on my system is 5.1. Not a big fan of having music go through a center speaker. The old SR6003 came with a 4.1 music option which sounded excellent as well as a 5.1 for movies. While there is an option for a second speaker profile I have yet to work out a way to switch to that on the fly ie via the remote, allocate that only to multi-channel stereo or to an input.
Dazz Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 Oh i was looking in another site and someone there had the same issue with his eARC only having 3 surround sound modes. It appears to be an issue with the last update which I did when I first set it up.
