Misternavi Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Hey, Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried Argentium silver or similar for wiring /cable purposes? Argentium is 94% silver + 5% copper + 1% Germanium Sterling is around 92% silver. With pure silver cost is high, Sterling & Argentium seems like a cheaper option.
Volunteer sir sanders zingmore Posted August 22, 2024 Volunteer Posted August 22, 2024 Where can you buy Argentium cables? From what I can tell Argentium is a patented and trademarked alloy. My guess is that will make it more expensive than pure silver. Also it seems to be a worse conductor
muon* Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 (edited) Know of folk that have liked Sterling, haven't used it myself. First I have heard of Argentium. Edit: I think results will depend a bit on what other materials are mixed with the silver, I have found even 99.9% silver from different sources can sound noticeably different from one to another. Also the annealing and drawing process. Edited August 22, 2024 by muon* 1

I find it hard to trust the quality of silver anymore. I used to buy Australian Silver which was really good. Really soft and tarnished quick. Then I bought Silver from China and it was hard and took longer to tarnish.
