Pipey Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 Just started looking through what songs were never released on a studio album. Two spring to mind easy for me. Mary Jane’s last dance. Tom Petty Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam. I think both were released on best of compilations, maybe as singles. Anyone know of some others? 1
NoCoder Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Good choices. The Long Road and I Got ID from Pearl Jam are also ones and two of my favourite songs of theirs.
zenikoy Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Used to annoy the hell out of my younger self. I wanted proper albums, not random singles or compilations of stuff I already had. Strawberry Fields - The Beatles Hey Jude - The Beatles Jumping Jack Flash - The Rolling Stones How Soon Is Now? - The Smiths Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division Whatever - Oasis Boys Don't Cry - The Cure

surprisetech Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Everybody Moves - Died Pretty My most treasured piece of 7" vinyl. Two versions were eventually included on an album release amongst the bonus tracks on the 2013 CD release of 'Lost'. Out Of The Unknown and Mirror Blues were also non-album singles, both released in 1984 prior to their debut album 'Free Dirt' which came out in '86. 2
emesbee Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Deep Purple - Black Night Released as a single in 1970 around the same time as their "In Rock" album, but not included on it. The single version and a Roger Glover remix were eventually both included on the 25th anniversary reissue of Deep Purple In Rock. (Its worth getting this reissue for the Black Night remix alone, sounds much better than the single version.) Deep Purple - When A Blind Man Cries Recorded during the Machine Head sessions in 1971, and released as a single B side in 1972 but not included on the album at the time. Has since been included on a 1997 Roger Glover remix of Machine Head, and also on a 2012 96/24 remaster. (I have both copies.) Both songs appear on many (most!) Deep Purple live recordings. 1
