Anybody that has owned a Pansonic TV knows how good they are , and were gutted when they left the Australian market in 2020, and 2016 in the U.S.A., their TV's still win best picture quality awards in countries where they are still sold [U.K.].

Panasonic has announced it is returning to the U.S.A. market with selected OLED's and LCD TV's.

Hopefully they will be returning to the Australian market as well, as it seems strange that they left the Australian market back in 2020, but remained in the New Zealand market.....Go figure.

Interesting comment from their press release

Reasons for US Return

Panasonic, one of Japan’s most popular consumer electronics brands, was driven to re-enter the US by a strong belief in the unmet demand for their televisions, particularly among consumers seeking the highest possible picture quality. As consumers live through what many call the Golden Age of Television, the number of discerning viewers has increased, with more people wanting to experience their favorite content exactly as it was intended.

I do wonder what made them leave in first place?  They were never going to compete at the cheap end against the Chinese brands and now going back to the same niche, but have lost TV brand awareness.

That’s good to know.I wonder what format they will have if ever my Plasma dies!

From the same press release:

The flagship Z95A OLED TV, available in 65”; the Z85A OLED TV, available in 65” and 55” sizes. In addition, Panasonic will also sell the W95 mini-LED series, available in 55”, 65”, 75”, and a whopping 85” sizes.

Interesting no large OLED TVs!

My 2010 Panasonic plasma (TH-P54V20A) is still going strong - not the primary TV anymore, but still fine for watching streamed content (works well with an Amazon Fire TV Stick).

Would be very interested if they crank out some new models with new tech!
