barbz127 Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 Looking to build a set of stands to try out a different listening space and I've started looking at the commercial options and its a mix of: * low and high mass * timber vs aluminum * solid top plate vs open top plate * isolation between the floor and stand vs isolation between the top plate and the speaker What do I need to look out for other than getting the height correct? Flooring is Hardwood timber parquetry on concrete slab. Thank you
Grizzly Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 For most speakers I'd say- High mass Timber over aluminium Solid top plate Isolation at the base with speaker and stand firmly coupled (even bolted if possible). HOWEVER, there will be exceptions to all of the above. What speakers are you looking to mount?
David A Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 I don't know, but i'm liking these speaker stands from Poland which are some of the best looking stands i've ever seen. Their racks are very nice also & are good value - https://audioculture.pl/nasze-produkty/
