My use of Kodi lasted only a few days, never touching it again... ---- Back to topic, I was looking at getting the Zidoo Z3000 Pro, but the iSilencer has silenced that! (pun intended) 1

QQ senior members are using Kodi (but not necessary on Pi) https://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/threads/music-server-software-with-dolby-atmos-passthrough-remote-control-app.34499/ Hate to think how much effort they put in to make Kodi work for MCH. Some people have tried using LMS but no concrete success. Others have tried using DLNA/ UPnP but I am wary of the security risks.

I was using Kodi for years for multichannel music and yes with a lot of effort it does look great, you need to select the right scrapers in the settings or upload your own for more obscure stuff but yeah I’ll be sticking to Roon for its quality and simplicity, I just pick up the iPad now and select Multichannel as my roon zone and away it goes. I just thought there would be something like that snake oil OS that could play multichannel music. Edited January 31 by powerav 1
Lil Caesar Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Well guys I drank your Kool aid and bought one of these for my ATV 4K. Yep, it works - uplift in audio and video clarity, not massive but enough to recommend for the modest outlay. I’m running a Sony Oled and a 7.2.4 Atmos rig via marantz pre/pro, Adam audio active speakers and REL subs so quite referencey system. Thanks 3

SnakeOil is an Operating System which leverages off existing Linux music players. IF we can find a player for MCH music, I will request for it to be added. But Kodi is the only one...

Thanks Same here..bit the bullet on one just to have some fun...and yeah..surprisingly it does work, but subtle. Plugged it to the output end of my Nvidia Shield pro. Colours are a bit more saturated in a natural way, the sound is a tad fuller to my Ambeo soundbar. Not bad for a cheap upgrade. Edited February 4 by MrBurns84 3
HumanMedia Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Glad to hear all of this positive feedback. I had one on order and while I was waiting found a YouTube video of a comparison of the silencer in and out. Couldn’t tell any difference on the video (of course it’s YouTube with its compressed video of a video) but the sound difference was clear and obvious! However what I heard sounded worse, less bass, and fewer low and mid harmonics, more strident sounding in the treble. Yes I know it was YouTube so nothing should be believed, but it was so clear and such a step in the wrong direction that I cancelled my order. So I am happy that others are doing the taste test with positive results. Maybe one day I will dip my toe in the water and try it for real. 1

powerav Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 I'm still convinced that a PC with Roon Rock playing multichannel music with an Ifi HDMI iSilencer is the best audio experience ever. 1
