She's a bit annoyed that they won't even admit she's been there for 30 years as they had a reorganise about 29 years ago! She won't get to 44, as I think we'll call it a day in early '26 - and she has over 12 months of long-service leave to use up prior to that!!! Mrs CE has now bitten the bullet...sort of. She has mountains of Long Service Leave and quite a bit of holidays, so she's applied for leave from 4th July until 9th October NEXT YEAR. The theory being that I'll be retiring in about a years' time and that'll force her to finally send in her notice... 2 1
Meinoz Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I’m sorry to hear that but glad you’re enjoying retirement. i retired last year after owning a company with 30 employees. While I wanted to drift off because I didn’t want to spook clients and employees because a couple of workers took over the business, when I did announce it only two responded wishing me well. Must say that hurt a bit given the effort I’d put in to keeping everyone happy over the years. a year down the track I’m loving the no alarm wake ups, no stress, no employee therapy sessions etc but I’m only now moving to my forever home and setting up my new system to have music playing all day long, while I look over the ocean and do sweet FA. so yes, I feel I know exactly how you felt and agree with others, as soon as able, retire. Health drops off and time flies by so quick. 40+ yrs of work deserves more than 10-20yrs of enjoyment. heres to doing what you want and the freedom that comes with it. 6 1
Batty Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I have been with the same company 39 years now and will be retiring at the end of June. We have bought our forever home in the country and are looking forwards to getting away from the 'City'. Plenty to keep us busy on the half acre plot plus I'm re-learning to play bass guitar after almost 40 years. 6

I've been with the current company for 22½ years and it seems that you get less appreciated the longer you work there. The current financial position means I have to wait until early next year before following my wife into retirement (I only have about 20 weeks of LSL). But everything will be fine after that - it's just a matter of staying fit enough to have 30 years of retirement! Edited March 21 by Cloth Ears 3
