Sansui77 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 This will an interesting topic. What are you still into, collecting or have revisited as an Adult from your early days as a kid or teenager? At the moment I'm revisiting my childhood because of having young kids. My parents in the 80's struggled financially like most and my bike was from our local council tip. I would see the other kids riding high quality bmx's like Redline, Haro, Mongoose etc. I've decided to get back into it and enjoy it with my kids. I always wanted a pair of Skyway Tuffs These are some of my builds. 4 2
bob_m_54 Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Similar to you, our first push bikes came from the dump, or illegal dumping sites in the bush. But this was in the 60s, so the bikes were pretty old and ratty. We did attempt some paintwork on them, but we used one of the old fly sprayers like this, to do the job. Needless to say, the paint jobs were no where near as nice as yours. 4
Mrkropotkin Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 I was given a BSA push bike that my friend didn't want but it was conditional as he was experimenting with putting an old ( I think ) VW steering wheel on in place of handle bars. It worked great as I was able to carry my school folders on it. No photos back then because no one had cameras... This was well over 50 y ago 3

Assisi Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 I regularly stream and revisit music from my teens from the late 50s and 60s. Some recordings are poor many are very good. So much music as I like it. Memories relived. Johnny and the Hurricanes Red Rover Rock. John 1

audiofeline Posted January 26 Posted January 26 When I was a teen I could only afford a few LP's a year, and although I used to borrow a lot from friends there were a lot I wanted to hear but didn't. I think I have such a large number now as an over-compensation for that deprivation! So back then each record purchase had to be extremely carefully decided. In this age with discs being so cheap, and the ability to download albums easily (and listen to them on youtube) I've been revisiting many of those albums I wanted to hear but never got to hear. And I've found it interesting. Many that I was tempted to get but didn't, I can reflect that I made the right decision - I usually like the tracks I was familiar with, but find the other tracks to be filler. While at other times I listen to the album and understand why it had a good reputation. An example, my wife gave me The Allman Bros at Fillmore for Christmas, I was listening to it and feeling all the good reports I had read were valid, and wishing I had been able to be exposed to it when a teen.

Expand For some strange reason this popped into my head a few hours ago. I used to have one in my childhood years. A board game that glowed in the dark. Checked out eBay and discovered they're now worth a small fortune. 1
Rustee Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) Hi @Sansui77, cool topic! Like you, I was also into BMX in the 80's and 90's. Lived on the movie Rad in my teens, I think my local video store survived purely on my rental of it. Ive had a Diamond Back Hot Streak, Torker 2, Haro Air Master with bashguard, Haro Ground Master and a first generation Wilkerson Airlines Riot WAL (was a big fan of Ron Wilkerson, and still a fan). I still have my Riot WAL and in 2018 my kids bought me a 30 year anniversary Haro Master which is awesome. I'll try and get a couple of photo's for you. Miss the BMX days, best years of my life. I still get on the Haro every now and then to bust an infinity roll or a tail whip. Cheers, Russ Edited March 7 by Rustee 2
