blakey72 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 So as everyone knows there is an argument of which sounds better, digital or vinyl. Well this doesn't answer that question as there really is no better, just different. This video is probably the best I've seen comparing recordings. So this artist/sound engineer compares a master recording to reel to reel, vinyl, cassette, Apple music lossless and Spotify. Contrasts range from very close to quite a difference. The great thing about this video is how accurate his descriptions are of 'how the music sounds' to him. As a music lover and audiophile I think his descriptions of the sound's align very close to what I heard. I'm surprised he didn't have the cd media type in there but anyway... Notice he doesn't state which is better but rather which is preferred. That is how I see the different media types, no best just different and which you prefer. I thought he was a bit of a goof at first however after watching it I have great respect into his insight. I think it's well worth a watch. 3
almikel Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Thanks @blakey72, Definitely worth a watch and listen - I recommend headphones or a decent setup to pick the differences. Listening on headphones there were some clear differences, but others I couldn't hear until Dom (the Youtube poster) pointed them out - very subtle. cheers Mike 1
