Tasebass Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 (edited) $90K for the 50th affair… $20K for the plinth now available on its own …plus new top plate!! mmmmmm! Edited January 24 by Tasebass 1 2
evgill Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Your link is “404” already @Tasebass so here are a couple of pics nicked from elsewhere…
e83cc Posted January 27 Posted January 27 For $20k you could get a Rega Naia and be done with all the fiddling. A double win - better sound and money in the bank for more records. 2
e83cc Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Having said that, the Linn looks nice in a mid century house.
vivianbl Posted January 27 Posted January 27 (edited) Our esteemed member Andy Redwood has built a Subclasses for his LP12 out of the Panzerholz and done away with the plinth altogether ! So don’t need to spend that much $$ on a Linn Panzerholz plinth! Edited January 27 by vivianbl 2
Tasebass Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 (edited) $A3K for the matching top plate...geeeees!! ..and we all thought the Keel cost was off the charts!! Tase. Edited February 1 by Tasebass 1

I’ve been following comments on several forums on this. A lot of hostility, belittling and venom directed to Linn products and their upgrade approach and costs. Not sure why people feel so aggrieved by the price of the Bedrock plinth/ top plate. The paradox is that People spend that much on a cartridge which has a much shorter shelf life! Also noticed that the 3rd party product Tangerine Audio aluminum equivalent, Silleto, is about £6.4k new. No, I am not going to rush out and upgrade my fluted plinth. While everything else within the deck has changed, the plinth and the original Mazak outer platter have matured with age and are now 37 years old! Edited February 1 by vivianbl 2
Tasebass Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 @vivianbl There's a near plethora of third party plinth and top plates affairs that have been offered by companies over the last decade or so… price range varies as you have noted!! Now … out of the blue …( although Linn says the development of the Bedroc has taken time ) the privilege of owning such product puts it right out of the price range of most Sondek owner's… Maybe the tech will trickle down … let’s see.. Almost industrial DIY appearance. Good god. Surely at $20K they could at least sheath it in something a touch more exotic
Hydrology Posted February 2 Posted February 2 I was fortunate to be at the Linn factory last April and got to see a finished LP12-50. Pics of the Bedrok plinth don't do it justice at all.
e83cc Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) So 2 Linn plinths are the same price as a new Toyota Corolla. Hmmmm. Think I'd rather have a Wilson Benesch GMT TT - that's only worth 2 new entry level Ferrari's. Edited February 2 by e83cc 1
metal beat Posted February 5 Posted February 5 For 20k you can get a complete Technics SP10R motor unit. 3 1

I thought Linn lore was that it should be on either a light table (like an IKEA 'Lack') ... or a wall-shelf?

They realised suspension systems cause more problems than they solve. Sheesh, I knew that as a kid playing records on old Garrard changers in a Queenslander (wooden house on stilts)
