I am looking for a good streamer that natively supports Apple Music. I read about Eversolo and Sonos. Does anybody know if there are other streamers that natively support Apple Music or any other brands that plan to integrate Apple Music in the near future?

Thanks

The only thing I’ve seen do this, and do it well, was the eversolo units.

With Sonos you’ll be limited to 24/48, whereas the Eversolo will let you go to 24/192.

I have the eversolo a8 and it will support natively lossless Apple Music as will rest of eversolo family

other is the fiio R9 and later releases

the astell & kern dap I had also did

lastly I believe the hifi rose rs 151 is also likely to do, however not seen evidence of this as yet 🙂

at present eversolo is best bet. It works seamlessly and without issue and from an affordable price …

Eversolo and Filo  - I think they are based on Android OS .... not as good as Native iOS for Apple Music

How were they hooked up ? Using their dac or yours ?

what dab with the iPad ? And what iPad and is it using usb-c or lightening ?

I am using Ferrum Wandla Dac

My iPad Pro is USB C ... connect to Mutec MC3+USB (as reclocker) then SPDIF /AES to Ferrum Wandla

iPad attached the Apple Magic Keyboard which has extra USB C port for charging .. therefore I do not need a USB Hub

@mitchlim appreciate posting.. however did you compare the eversolo feeding all this stuff as well..and comparing ipad via usb into same ? that way will be using same back end just apple stuff as source ?

to be fair i suspect most folks posting here i suspect will be wanting a one box solution to feed a hifi rig rather than multi box off plus iPad or macbook/computer ?

appreciate the post though.. i have an old iPad air 3 with lightening and went into my usb dac which is a focal Arche(micro mega) dac/headphone amp... into my 2ch rig.. to be honest i havent felt it was much better or perceptibly differnt to be honest vs ever solo a8, was done some while ago after i got it.. i can explore again.. also looking to update my iPad at some stage and new one likely have usb-c and not sure if that makes a difference 🙂

yes i can try either my MacBook.. over usb-c which have done a while back or phone (not tried) can explore again those when get a chance ...

personally so far i like that the ever solo is a one box.. stream dac.. can feed my pre direct and can use it with phone or iPad interface at the couch and all losslessly and native apple 🙂

Is the iPad’s sound better than Eversolo’s?
Yes, but only when playing Apple Music.

What’s the reason behind this?
I can only speculate... Since both Apple Music and the iPad’s software are designed by Apple, they are likely optimized to work together. On the other hand, Eversolo runs on Android OS when playing Apple Music, which might explain why Apple Music generally sounds better on an iPhone than on an Android phone.

Eversolo is well-designed and reasonably priced, but do you find that its sound is less engaging and less musical?

Additionally, adding the Mutec MC3+ USB between the iPad and DAC brings a significant improvement in sound quality. In my opinion, that’s the best way to play Apple Music.

Of course, for Qobuz ..... iPad may not be my choice

Using a Mac to play Apple Music is not bit-perfect unless you add software like LosslessSwitcher, which I mentioned above.

hi mithclim. it does matter if you are comparing he iPad with all the back end equipment vs ever solo on its own or are you comparing the ever solo as well with the same back end. this matters a lot... as dac and back end you are using will impact on the sound...

the ever solo a8 is really a one box solution so will appeal to folks who want that.. and being able to do

as a note the apple music app on the play store is still made by apple

and with the ever solo a8... to play apple music on it natively you actually do need to log into apple using the ever solo screen so yeah you are playing this directly off apple music 🙂

that will be same issue with iPad or iPhone off usb-c output into dac ? i imagine.. cant see why not ... ever solo doesnt need this ...

Eversolo is okay as a streamer, but I do not like its digital converter, as I have better DACs such as the Ferrum Wandla and dCS Rossini.

For Apple Music streaming, I prefer using the iPad over Eversolo—maybe it just suits my personal taste.

The weakness of the iPad is that I can’t use a remote control. However, since the last macOS update, I can use the iPhone Mirror app to control my iPhone.

thats fair enough .. but you can use any dac you want with it ? theres no reason for instance you cant also use the same dac and back end as you are with the iPad ? instead of a8 you just buy the a6 then.. use it as transport and use with same iPad back end or ferrum or dCS what ever takes fancy ?

just keep in mind there are two ways of streaming from ever solo.. one is using the google play app but that is lossy... alternative is logging in direct through the ever solo and have to do this to then play native apple lossless and can mirror that to the phone 🙂
