G'day Folks

I've recently set up a container at home with all my worldly possessions finally out of storage.

I have a small workshop set up and once again I have time to play around with speakers.

After two years I've set up the Music Hall MMF 2.2 with a Vincent PHO-8, only to have my heart sink, with a noise through the platter, into the stylus and audible through the speakers.  It seems to be a rattle, is the best I can describe.

It's only present on 33rpm, not audible when the belt is dropped for 45rpm.

To me, it sounds like it's coming from inside, under the spindle, not from the drive shaft.

Maybe someone has a suggestion?

Anyway, I'm currently packing the turntable for shipping to Selby, and I'm stuck at the start trying to work out the Motor Transport Screws.

Typically, I can't remember what I did when unboxing and setting up.

The manual indicates 2 RED screws to be removed...

...but, I don't remember them, and don't have them in the box.

The TT has black screws in that location...

...which I never removed.

There is a YouTube video where these black screws are visible and not removed either...  seen about 1.10

I though I'd check in here as first port of call, and appreciate any advice.

Luckily I have 'Ol Faithful' Optonica back on deck, pun intended, having its first play after servicing a while back by @tubularbells, cheers mate.

Transport screws need to be removed.  From the photo, it appears the motor should then sit isolated on the rubber mounting.

Thankyou.

I don't know how I missed it, I know about transport screws, I read all manuals.

I think that the manual indicating they are red screws has thrown me off, but I should have removed something.  I am slapping my own head... very hard.  I listened to the TT as was, for at least 2 years.

Thanks again for a prompt reply and saving me a lot of time.

I've removed the 2 black screws, lo and behold, problem solved.

Now, if I could delete this thread to avoid embarrassment, just kidding, I put my hand up when at fault.
