Hi, I  have come across one for sale, one owner from new. Photos suggest exterior in great condition and according to owner the unit has had complete service/overhaul at ATC (engineer's report/invoice available) and the amp is now "as new". As someone who is very much ignorant on the technical side of hi fi and generally buys in store with chance to demo etc. this opportunity to purchase pretty much blind online makes me nervous.

However, I did previously own one of these for a number of years so know the sound, build etc. (on reflection I regret letting it go, but we have all been there and this may be a chance to make amends).

Taking the owner's description at face value would an amp of this age but with complete ATC service be a sensible purchase regarding reliability and performance.

I’ve had two of the current SIA150’s along with a few pairs of active atc speakers. If ATC UK has serviced it I can’t see a problem with buying it. It’ll be as good as new.

Purchased, and it's everything I hoped it would be.  Actually spoke to someone at ATC before buying and they were able to confirm by serial number that the amp had been given a thorough service/overhaul and was good to go (seller included the detailed technician's report with the amp). Produced in 1998, looks and sounds fantastic !

There isn’t much difference between the first and second series,

certainly not in sound. The first series look a bit better and have more effective cooling with the exposed heat sinks.
