wazza1503559969 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Hi All, I’m having a bit of a saga with getting a 401 plinth built there has been more than 1 issue - including needing the initial plinth rebuilt due to shipping damage (ie out of the plinth builders control) Anyway - I have been advised that the arm board on the replacement plinth will extend under the 401 at one point because they didnt have time to redesign an arm placement cavity or board for my particular arm/plinth combo I’m not really comfortable with this due to aesthetics and also it seems sub-optimal for the turntable itself to be overlying part of the armboard This was not really my vision of the plinth I wanted or paid for. I guess my question is - is the arm board underlying the record player likely to impact on sound? cheers W

I have no idea if it will impact sound however if its not what ou paid for then dont accept it. I have been mucked and around and my deposit stolen by a plinth builder previously
tonyd Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Hi W, A bit more information and some photos would be helpful to understand the problem.

Did the original plinth you ordered have this issue ? Sounds like they don't know what they are doing to me. I've built several plinths for 301/401's and never had an issue, but you do have to do a plan for the arm before you start. 1

Expand Probably too late unless he paid with credit card or PayPal. I would think any decent plinth builder would start with the arm in mind. I would avoid any that don’t.
