Sorry to tack on to an old thread but I have been in the market for an older Simaudio cd player (VERY) expensive - Simaudio Andromeda, people may remember this one retailed for about $15K USD back in about 2009.

None exist in Australia so, I wrote Busisoft asking the simplest of questions.  Can a 240v power supply be installed in a unit purchased from US (110v).

What eventuated, has been non- responses, answers round in circles (they actually have no idea what the answer is or, perhaps even what a power supply even is), telling me to contact this person, that person, they're not sure, etc!!

These people are comedians.

It ended today, when Busisoft wrote to me and (very clearly) just googled "Hifi repairers in ACT" (where I live), flicked me those 2x links accompanied with the note "Try these - note we won't be held responsible for any issues".

🤣🤣

Absolutely incredible customer service there.  Thanks for the:  "support".

By the way:  the vendors they linked me to repair TV's.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

So, needless to say, I probably won't be purchasing a $15,000USD Simaudio cd player and sending to our local distributor for attention anytime soon.

Just utterly embarrassing.

I wonder what the proud company Simaudio in Canada think of these people?  (Do they care?)

Needless to say I won't be purchasing a Simaudio product of any kind.

Fair warning to anyone in Australia considering their products.  They literally haven't got a clue.

Assuming that the Andromeda really interested you, might an email directly to Simaudio be worth trying?

Bringing Simaudio into the matter helped @ericd get his matter sorted, and if anyone can answer your question, I think that the people at Simaudio would be your best chance?

Not only CAN it be done, but just as importantly HOW to best do it?

Yes, contact them and give them copies of the email chain that got you nowhere.
I would have thought your question was quite straightforward, and if they didn't know an appropriate answer would have been "we don't know, but will contact the manufacturer with your question".

Maybe it was a deliberate avoidance in the hope that you won't buy an old device that you will want them to repair, and by not getting an old device will buy a new one from them (more profitable).

Heyy chaps,

Thanks so much for your 2x responses.

To respond in turn:

- Parrasaw:  Yep.. while I don't doubt Simaudio Canada will at least respond displaying far better customer service, I don't doubt they will just bounce me straight to Busisoft.  Why?  Due to the issue being to source and install a 240v power supply.  (Why would a North American/Canadian dealer have 240v products?)  They will probably just go:  "too hard" - contact Busisoft and hopefully they have some 240v PSU's (which of course, they don't). Cyclical problem which will get me nowhere.

- audiofeline:  my answer above somewhat pertains to your point, too.  And with regard to your second point, yes.  I am actually quite sure, you are probably right.  They just want me to buy the current flagship cd player on their books (easy $$$$ in their bank account) and once my money's there, for me to just go away and never contact them again.  Anything to do with older Simaudio products, they simply don't care because it is not making them a fortune ($$$) like a current flagship Simaudio would, and they literally have no idea how to solve my problem with the older player anyway.  "Too hard".

As Paul mentioned, I did end up getting a good response from both parties when I forwarded a lengthy email chain to both Simaudio and Busisoft after months of mucking around. As I understand it, posting here on SNA helped too! Admittedly this was a different scenario as in my case I was looking to get an older unit I already owned repaired. But I wouldn't assume that they won't try to help if you contact them, especially if you include the email chain showing the responses you've had.
