I've trying to resist the urge to buy a cheap 40khz ultrasonic cleaner (Vevor or similar) and pay a bit more for a machine with a higher frequency, say 80khz. The internet wisdom is that the high frequency machines are not only better at cleaning deep down in the grooves, but also less likely to cause damage.

The problem is, every reasonably priced machine I can find on ebay and Amazon is 40khz --- the 40khz transducers must be cheap and plentiful .

However, I've found what appears to be a reputable company called Granbo that sell 6l ultrasonic cleaners in a wide variety of frequencies, including dual 40/80 and 80/120 models.

The 80khz-only model will cost me about $AUD500 landed in Australia.  That's a big extra hit over the 40khz cheapies but the best deal I can find on a high frequency US so far. And worth it if it's going to do a much better job.

Any happy Granbo owners here? Or know of other affordable 80khz models? Or if you think I'm nuts and a 40khz is all I need, break it to me gently.

That is correct.  👍  Although those who sell / have bought 40kHz machines will try to convince you otherwise.

It is very strange that 40kHz machines seem to be the only ones readily available.

About 5 years ago, when I was looking to buy a us cleaner ... 60kHz was available.  So I was able to buy a made-in-the-USofA 60kHz cleaner - although it was quite expensive (a lot more than $500).

I would say the 80kHz-only model would be worth going for.

Appreciate the detailed response thanks! The price of the Granbo is getting up into Humminguru territory ... on the face of it the Humminguru looks a much safer bet (local supplier and proven, well-regarded machine) except its frequency is 40khz... perhaps chosen to keep the price down, but surely must compromise its effectiveness.
