Vin rouge Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The end of used vinyl in Canberra. Has the cost of living crisis taken another pleasure out? https://region.com.au/where-have-all-the-records-gone-canberras-secondhand-vinyl-market-in-freefall/862762/
FR DRew Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The range of records to buy became either pretty dire, or very mainstream. Exactly how many copies of Silk Degrees or Turnstiles does one need? Secondhand copies in questionable condition go for nearly as much as new copies can be purchased from JB or from discogs, and a lot of what is cheap to buy is stuff most people don't want to buy. Hiking all the way to Kambah is hardly convenient for most people. A pity, but people are time poor as well as restricted in their expendable dollars.
Kieron Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It’s becoming harder to support some local stores here In Melbourne with totally over the top pricing now the new normal. For example, I was in a record store that had the Crowded House album Temple of Low Men in excellent condition for $160 and the Rhino Hi Fi Candy O by The Cars for $190 as 2 examples that stuck out. Absolutely ridiculous.
