emesbee Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Shabaka Hutchings - Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace (2024). I didn't get to see Shabaka's one-only performance at this year's Womadelaide, so bought his CD instead. I am not familiar with Shabaka, but apparently this is his debut solo album. Though calling it a solo album may be a bit misleading, as there are quite a large number of musicians playing different instruments and doing vocals on each of the tracks. Shabaka plays Saxophone, Clarinet and various types of flutes, including shakuhachi. The general mood of the album is one of reflection. I quite enjoyed listening to it this evening, but one probably needs to be in the right sort of mood to really appreciate it (I was tonight, fortunately). 5
