So I just had a look at my pre-order on Amazon Canada and clicked on change delivery speed just to see what the other options are. It now says this for

Standard International Shipping (averages 30-40 weeks)

??? Are they having a laugh? that is ridiculous. They are pretty much forcing people to change their shipping, just so they can get more money, even though we preordered at the lower shipping price.

Even for, Expedited International Shipping (averages 7-14 weeks), that is pretty damn slow.

Anybody know what local sellers are going to stock this?

At the moment Universal music are telling one particular music store that retail price will be around $570. That is more than the heavier Stereo box!!    Since Universal took over EMI locally, they have no clue.

I have sent screen shots of my amazon and ca prices and a large argument will happen with Universal music locally and the store. If they don't get anywhere with Universal Australia, they will cancel all their Beatle box set..    bit of a pity really.     Shop said, don't cancel you amazon orders as Universal music Australia are screwing them in the butt.

Uncklemack   - what is Universal telling JB hifi?

. Not sure. I'll ask tomorrow. Last time I asked, they had no pricing info as yet. I'll get back to you. M

That sounds like the response from a company that is useless and consistent with what my local store told me - Universal, not JB Mack.

these boxes are all ready made. Universal Australia should have already have their order either in transit or sitting in the warehouse - sounds like neither :hiccup

Would be interesting to hear from some SNA members who are old enough to remember when the Beatles were releasing mono first, then the stereo versions.

The first record I ever owned was Beatles For Sale.  It was a birthday present from my Auntie.  I was 6 years old.

Played it on the family radiogram until it wore out.  I don't have it now, but I'm pretty sure it was mono...

500$ sounds like a fair enough price to me, considering the amount of records. I bought the stereo release in Germany for 399 Euros about a year ago, that comes close to 600$, and I remember the Mono CD version to be a few euro more expensive than the stereo CD set, if that's anything to go by.

Especially if you can just go to the shop, pick up the box, take it home, and not mucking about when it's coming and how the bloke at the cargo area will treat the box.... or the Post for that matter (for some weird reason, some of the stuff I received from family in Europe arrived wet!)

I confirmed today that the price at JB is indeed $560. This is unfortunate but is due to the cost from the local distributor which, I am led to believe, can be higher or lower than if the same item was sourced from an OS distro. As my media manager told me, JB choose support and use local distro which can mean prices at odds with OS/Online pricing.

So there you go.

Just got an eta email from amazon.ca, Sept 18-29.

Same here.

Quality Records online price is $495 plus $7 local postage.

That's a good price for a local seller compared to the US Amazon delivered price.

Also, if there are any issues it will be easier to have a local seller sort out the problem.

Hi Arthur, if you're looking for a local seller, pricing for StereoNET members you can find here through Vinyl Eye. :thumb:

Cheers,

Keith
