Glad you got her back safe and sound. She’s looking a little sheepish. Yeah, bloody scary. I definitely wasn't in a good place on the drive home. Thanks, it's definitely good to have her home and safe. When I picked her up she was absolutely buzzing with excitement to get back to me, they were the best shots I could get of her. Yes quite the ride, not one I want to take again though... We both definitely put the kilometres in, she's been licking her paws a fair bit so I imagine they're probably pretty sore from how many kms she did. Thank you, I'm very relieved and thankful to have her back home. Edited December 9, 2020 by Martykt

So sorry to hear the news. I know there is little consolation in saying that it is best for her. It will be gut wrenching the next few days (hate this part!) . Remember to take care of yourself and your family...

Now all I can do is keep him comfortable on pain killers and wait. If he breaks his leg I`ll have to put him down. No more beach running his favorite thing. This one is a heart breaker, such a gentle soul. Sorry to hear that @Megawolf. I hope he isn't in too much pain.
Megawolf Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Thanks. He will be a hard on to replace. Glad to hear you found yours. The worst thing is not knowing. 1

t_mike Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 I haven't visited SNA since before Christmas due to being inundated with bad news. Three elderly people I know have been given terminal prognoses on recently discovered illnesses, another has passed leaving me as executor of their estate, and finally, we lost one of the dogs today. Two and a half years ago we had four dogs, when Riley, one of the cocker spaniels, had to be put down after suffering for a year with a rare degenerative disorder that destroyed his kidneys. A few months later, Sniffy the Bassett hound suffered joint collapse, he was 13, so to be expected with the breed. Today, Bear the akita had to be put down after tearing a ligament in one of his rear legs. Operating on it was not really a choice, he had both hips realigned as a young adult, and being a heavy 10 year old, the outcome was unlikely to be good. So this morning at 11.30, we said our good byes and sat with him as he slipped away. R.I.P big boy. 1

t_mike Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 Thanks Clive, much appreciated. We're still worried about how Spencer, the lone surviving spaniel will take this, he has never been a lone dog, and with everyone at work through the day, we have to watch how he reacts. 1

Hate to say it, but sooner you get a new dog the better. We waited too long after losing our last Lab and sounds like yours badly needs a companion . But by all means when you're comfortable and ready.
Megawolf Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 Sorry to hear about your pup, hardest thing is letting go. I`m going to have to make that decesion about mine soon enough, he has bone cancer in the front leg. Think happy thoughts when you look back over the pictures. Cheers. Ian. P.S. Don`t let it get on top of you.
Pops110 Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 That is really crap news mate, you’re having a terrible run. I hope things pick up for the better soon. Bear was a beautiful looking dog.

Hazzzy Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 RIP Scruffy. Put to sleep just short of his 15th birthday. Couldn't make it around the block any more. Then couldn't get around the house any more. It was best for him to not suffer. I couldn't deal with the big hole he left in my life so a Jack Russell was the only way forward. Max is 9 weeks. 6
