I'll keep this thread moving along.

With a whippet puppy and a beagle with a something on his mind.

Our older dog Dusty developed a taste for tomatoes straight off the plant a few years back.

He'd shove his head in there, sniff around and only pick the ripe ones.

Then little MooMoo came along, watched him and proceeded to pick all the green ones

I'd come home and there'd be half green tomatoes all over the lawn and a happy Staffie greeting me with tomato breath.

^_^

Been a while since we'v grown any but a cherry tomato plant popped up by itself in a pot a while back.

Neither dog paid them any attention, but the other day, out of the blue, old Dusty started munching away, carefully selecting the reddest ones and ignoring the rest.

Of course little MooMoo followed and, again, ate whatever she could find.

Yesterday I found a lump of half digested dogfood full of green cherry tomatoes on the lawn

She never learns.

Is she yours?

No she belongs to a friend. We had Chows years ago and then moved to the low maintenance Whippet and Italian Greyhound.

Would you recommend a Whippet or Italian Greyhound?

I would probably recommend a whippet. They are a little more robust, a little easier to toilet train, a little bit more independent.

However, they are different little personalities and the Iggie girl that we just lost, idolised me and was just super sweet. The older whippet girl that we have now, spent a lot of time with that Iggie and is just as sweet and to me, is probably the perfect dog for us.

We have two Iggie boys and two Whippet girls now, love them all equally...except for the older whippet girl who is my favourite, but don't tell the others.  ;)

I passed on the side shot where she's running to a couple of ladies.

The general response has been "AAAAAWWWW!!!"

IG's can be quite timid and not as hardy as Whippets. That said they would make better lap dog if you are lucky enough to have one that wants to sit with you. Sighthounds generally are quite aloof, so would never buy one thinking they would cuddle much. Think of them as big lanky cats, sleep most of the day but have their crazy moments.

Best thing about a Whippet is letting them loose on a footy oval etc. So fast and graceful to watch, plus they are buggered after 30 seconds so you can go home again ;)

As a Vet my wife reckons Whippets are pretty close to the perfect dog for busy owners or those living in a townhouse or apartment. Low maintanence and genetically free of any in bred issues. We got our Roxy as we are both business owners and were living in a townhouse at the time. If we had an acreage type property (or lots of time for walking) she would have Border Collie.

Ok a quick one that most would not have seen, a miniature Xolo, or it could be an intermediate Xolo anyway a rare Peruvian dog that only has a little mohawk of hair and very slight feathering on tail and lower legs.
