I presume it's for those who buy more of the in-flight duty-free shopping than they can fit into their cabin luggage. Different use than what mine are for, I'm pretty sure.. LOL, Although the mind boggles thinking about it. 1

I recently swallowed a pull tab off a coke can, so little stickers are easy The worst is the plastic film between the layers of the cardboard tab on tea bags, I used to chuck the entire used tea bag in the home compost, then months later forking out the compost into the garden I kept finding these small, square plastic pieces in my compost……… it took a while to work it out. 2nd is the laughable tea bags that are in fact plastic so they don’t go in the compost anymore either (micro plastics). I now tear open the used tea bag and empty the spent leaf (or dust as some call it) into the compost bin. 3rd are the “compostable” eco bags - they seem to stay intact in my compost bin. I suspect you require a heat enhanced, commercial compost system to get those suckers to break down. Off to the green bin for council collection. we use much more leaf tea nowadays. Most of that goes into the home compost. 6
audiofeline Posted January 30 Posted January 30 (edited) I'm being caught with stuf I've put in plastic bags for longer-term storage. Back in the day you could get a plastic bag and it would protect for life. Now I'm getting stuff out of storage and finding the plastic bag's disintegrated, not protected the contents, and caused a mess. Edited January 30 by audiofeline 1

Tony M Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) I don't know if this one has been mentioned - apologies if so. After fighting the 'bot menu for many tiresome minutes and suffering the abominable wait music noise for what seems like hours (probably is!) you finally get to speak to a human representative of the business or agency that you want to interact with. Unfortunately the call fails to achieve anything - the human cannot help and you are about to accept this and hang up in graceful defeat. But he/she then asks "IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH TODAY?" I'm never sure how to react to the sheer inanity of this question. I am incredulous as to why it is part of the scripted spiel of so many call centers. Its purpose could only be to boost the sales of anti-hypertensive medication! Today, my response was "like what?" The answer was "No idea - it's just something we are told to ask" I appreciated the candour of this reply but it didn't do a lot to alleviate my frustration that so many call centres persist with this stupid question as part of the script. Or am I just old and grumpy? Edited February 7 by Tony M grammar glitch - got apostrophe wrong! 4 1

The appropriate response would be "yes, you can help me with my original query that you haven't managed to help me with so far, or refer me to the person/organisation who you can guarantee will be able to help resolve my problem". But I do like the "like what?" response!
Bass13 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 (edited) The prices of phones, what a total Ripoff this industry is, Both Samsung & Apple, should be ashamed of themselves. And in 2025 Apple has still got bugger all storage, all new phones should have a minimum of 512GB at that price... Edited February 14 by Bass13 5
rantan Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I agree 100% @Bass13, but for some reason that I cannot fathom, people keep buying them every year and quite often just trade or sell ( for F all ) so that they can have the latest toy. Hmmm. That would also describe some audiophiles 5 1

This actually segues into something that really cheeses me off, which is 2% surcharge on a meal or drink, which is undisclosed until you go to pay. If they cannot make a profit charging at the menu price then maybe they should try something else. Edited February 16 by rantan 4
audiofeline Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Yes, prices used to be determined by the cost of everything to get it to you plus some profit. Now it is the cost of everything to get it to you plus profit plus charging you separately for the cost of everything to get it to you again! Whatever happened to the concept of "the price of doing business" that determined the profits? 1
frankn Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Surcharges - ACCC I didn’t know that if all payments are subject to surcharge, then the total cost including the surcharge must be displayed for of each item on sale. It makes sense but I’ve not necessarily seen it in practice. 1
