Jonesy_SA Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Hi guys, I am interested in building the YJ 3 tube 6n3 pre-amp - which has received some good reviews for the price. Has anyone had any experience with this kit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/161389514141%20 It can be purchased with a 220v transformer but I have read reviews of over and under voltage etc with the cheap Chinese units. I cannot locate a schematic however it's 2 x 6n3 with a 6z4 rectifier. The sellers advise a transformer of: High Voltage: AC150V-0-AC150V (current 10MA) Filament voltage: AC6.3V (4A above) Does this look about right for these tubes? In the same chassis I wish to mount a VU buffer and gauges which requires "12VDC .12A" http://www.ebay.com/itm/250738439595%20 Questions: Does anyone know of a more reputable transformer for the tube preamp, and if no single unit exists is there two separate transformers to power both preamp and VU buffer? Obviously I don't want to overcapitalise! (Chinese tube transformer works out to about $30, Vu buffer $20) What's my options? cheers
Jonesy_SA Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 Hi guys, I have been provided with a copy of the schematic attached which is 'quite similar' I'm told (maybe an earlier version). Note - the schematic is marked 230v, whereas the board im referring to is 150v. There is a bunch of pictures a the following ebay listing and i have attached one below incase the link expires: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-DIY-Pre-Amp-Tube-Amplifier-Kit-6N3-x2-6Z4-Board-/120815707021 Thoughts ion power requirements and transformer?
