Multiroom audio for under a grand?

Hi all,

 

A friend of mine wants to do audio in 3 separate rooms, but for under a grand. Is it possible to get decent stereo in 3 rooms for under a $1,000? 

 

If anyone has a recommendation on a budget amp and speaker combination that would fit the bill, that would be awesome. If you can suggest multiroom control within the budget then that would be even better.

Decent stereo ... 3 rooms ... buying new? Nar probably not really.

You could do it for under $1000 using Apple Airplay from a computer running iTunes (mac or pc). You can control it using an iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch. Using Airplay you can stream multiple rooms at once.

 

Speakers:

Connect the speakers to these:

3x Sonos Play 1's streaming over wifi from central PC/Mac/NAS. Won't be "HiFi" but we have one in 1 of our shops and the bloody thing is bloody impressive as a background music room filler.

The airplay option is a good idea and I think I'll suggest a combo of secondhand and new.

 

Is there an android option out there like airplay?
