Great album, their best so far. I LOVED Speciation but this is on a whole new level I think.

And I was at that gig you mentioned! Stargazer etc? Saw them again on Saturday at Stay Gold too...

I agree, this is a great release, Speciation was superb, this however takes Speciation to another level. Takes a few extra listens to digest as there is SO much going on!!!

Indeed it was the gig I was referring to. I missed choof at start of night but I thought Carcanoid and NembutoliK were very good alsoI caught Geld upstairs, really enjoyed that too.  They were the other highlights of the night for me with Faceless Burial owning it IMO

I missed sat night tix to Blood Incantation, sold out too quick whilst I was at work, was there Monday night, we got Altars as support, that was good but I would have preferred Faceless Burial.  Blood Incantation came on before Dead Congregation though, I was very pleased with that.

Cant get to the Tote on the 19th but will catch them at the Gasometer in Jan, again with Alters, and few others, thats a good line up

Might catch you at the Gaso then!

I went both nights to BI + DC, both nights insane and was great to see them switch the order around.

Metallica - Death Magnetic

One of the few Metallica albums I don't own (on vinyl) as I was massively put off by the abismal production (even the coveted Guitar Hero version that was less compressed) so how does it sound on vinyl?

im genuinely interested as I do like a few tunes from that release but don't want to buy if it sounds like a bag of bricks....Cheers

Sounds listenable to me, everything is louder than everything else but that is Metallica. This is my first spin of a sealed 2008 KPG pressing I just bought, it’s quiet and flat, happy I’ve got it now.

The Guitar Hero version I think is actually well produced with good dynamics.
I think the biggest problem with Death Magnetic is the thin sounding guitar tone.

Metallica were still in a bit of a period where they felt they wanted something to sound different to standout.

Like that crazy drum snare from the previous St. Anger. 😬

Never thought I'd ever like a new Metallica track.

Just listened to this.  It's ok, got some energy!  production sound good too.

Priest, fate, motorhead etc in there which is cool.

New artwork up on their site with full tracklist.

77min album!

There's another new 'live' track up as well, had a viewing but it didn't have the same energy, maybe because it was the first live performance.

Me too. Wanted to listen a few times before my final judgement but the short of it is I really like it. In fact id be willing to say its the best track ive heard since the Justice album (actually no I loved the Garage Inc. & Lulu colab albums also).

Point being is although there no longer the band that belongs exclusively to the metal scene folks im really impressed with the viciousness of this new track. @08Boss302 summed it up nicely with the influences heard on it and I agree 100%

Never thought id be looking forward to another M. record but here we are and im excited....

Judicator- The Majesty of Decay, enjoying their new album, the last song Metamorphosis is excellent.

Unfortunately my standards for anything Metallica died along with Cliff. The new track lacks everything, except the sole purpose to try and stay relevant.
