awayward Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 @08Boss302 I’m sure Slave to the Grind is tame compared to Slave to the Scalpel. 1 3

It is indeed . 200 stab wounds is the band. Very well done death metal with a firm nod to the old school but not trying to be that period. Tell you what though, SttG is a bloody gem. I remember when it came out, Skidrow were still a guilty pleasure of mine from the s/t album, being a thrash and death metal head primarily, but when this came out it was too heavy for the hair metal crowd and allowed fans of if heavier music in funny back then how genres mattered so much, like long hair and faded t shirts 1 1

tubularbells Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 I was the same STTG along with D.A.D's No Fuel For The Pilgrims were some of my "hair metal" guilty pleasures at that time also and was frankly shocked how heavy STTG was when released. Fun fact I ended up meeting D.A.D at an in store at Billy Guyatts in Melb. (now the Telstra super store) which was kinda cool. 2

I remember buying cds at that Billy Guyatts, metal section downstairs there! Sad when you think about stores like that and Chandlers and Brashs etc 1
08Boss302 Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 40th anniversary Show No Mercy arrived today from pre order. Doing my own little comparison vs my original 1984 version (Road Runner Europe) The 40th anniversary version has been remastered for vinyl from original master tapes, it does sound great, maybe slightly more dynamics on the original 1984 version, but the new version is dead quiet and does sound awesome, they've done a brilliant job with it. Glad to own both versions... 1 1
GaryT Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Hey all. Haven't posted one of these for a while here but the last week-ish I've been trying to do a least one album a night, in alphabetical order, not all metal, but a lot of it. So I started with Alcest, then bjork, then Coldworld, drab majesty, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Frank zappa, gojira, ihsahn, Jethro tull. Tonight I'm up to K, which is where some of my favourite bands live. I have 3x as many K albums as the next most populous letter in my collection (W probably) K in my collection has King Gizz, Kauan, Kayo Dot. I'll start tonight with Kayo Dot and I'm going to pick Blasphemy, which isn't their heaviest but has an extremely unique sound, it was also a return to a more metal oriented sound after a couple of heavy, but more synth oriented albums (Coffins on Io and Plastic House are two of my all time favourites though) 1
