This album was a game changer for me, I can recall where and when I got it. Brashes at MtDruitt marketown during lunch break when I was at TAFE.

I grew up in Blacktown, so not far away, small world!

a recommendation following on the beer theme, there's a heavy thrash/grind hardcore band called Trappist, and they are a lot of fun. they arent the best band in the world, but they have a lot of charm.

Two gems that have been released this weekend.

CD copies in the post, but in the meantime streaming the life out of them.

Fleshgod Apocalypse - Opera (2024)

Solid album, catchier than their previous releases!

Agree with you totally dude. Loving this release. I have been streaming it, CD on the way but not arrived.  So catchy and the blend of symphony/classical and metal they have 100% nailed. I know they were here earlier this year, but hopefully they get back here again soon to support this release

This came out last Friday, it popped up on my new releases, I'd never heard of them.

After a bit of homework, this is their 3rd release, first release was in 2013, second was in 2016, the band is from Canada.

Clearly influenced by Opeth, Mastodon and Gojira but more than enough of their sound mixed in. I am happy I found them. Definitely got themselves a new fan.

How awesome is this artwork too!!

Yep, looking forward to seeing them live  hopefully in 2025!

Not missing the clean male vocals either on this album since the bass player's departure.

Good lord, its been 35 years since I picked up this album from Metal For Melbourne. Also been quite a while since I last spun it. What a great debut it is too. Bought it as soon as I heard the acoustic instrumental opener "Crystal Ann" but the whole album is great with its many twists and turns (in fact I reckon there's 2 albums worth of riffs on this)

One cool thing about listening to albums such as this after such a long hiatus is discovering just how good it sounds. Perfect thrash production IMO.

Annihilator - Alice In Hell

Playing LOUD!

Crystal Anne leading into Alice in Hell is audiophile bliss. I bought at Bankstown square along with White Lion Big Game, I was more into the hair metal back then so wasn’t quite ready for songs like Ligeia or Burns Like a Buzzsaw blade 😂 but it definitely gets played more than white lion now.

Moonspell - Wolfheart

One of my favorite albums of all time!  Was the album that got me into the band with the track "Vampiria" which was on some comp. I had at the time. Also one of the best metal vocalists out there IMO. Glad to see it getting some love here on SNA.

That was my first listen to the Wolfheart album. I liked it quite a bit. I do need to spin it some more though.
