Dokken Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 (edited) Watching this just reminded me how great and underrated Paul Shortino (ex Rough Cutt) was. Killer vocals, Shortino and Tate were probably the stand outs for me on this track! Edited October 2, 2024 by Dokken 3
tubularbells Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Been some time but spinning it just now makes me realize why this is one of my favorite albums of all time. All killer, no filler and the sound is INCREDIBLE. Pity the current re-issue sounds like crap as it breaks my heart that todays generation will never experience this album like it should be heard as the production is incredible! If it sounds bad at yours then you need this pressing or different equipment.... Iron Maiden -Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (original English press) 1 2
RapidFire Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 Wasn't able to get to the music room last night, so playing tonight. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden 1980 US Harvest R.I.P. Paul DiAnno 2

Dokken Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 (edited) A classic Extreme Gothic metal album: Tristania - Beyond the Veil (1999) Edited October 26, 2024 by Dokken 2
tubularbells Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Ghost's second release was unfortunately plagued by legal and production issues with the first being that Ghost had to temporally change there name to "Ghost B.C." due to issues with another band going by the same name made worse by a Metallica "Death Magnetic" production that bricked the snot out of the audio compressing it into a distorted mess of sludge that sadly remains until this day unless of course you happen to own this special Swedish release that retained the Ghost name (without the forced "B.C" moniker) and somehow managed to avoid the brick walled sound of all other releases making this a super special edition. One of my personal favorite albums of all time Ghost - Infestissumam 3
cazzesman Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 I love this band. I see they are in Melbourne at Festival Hall in January 2025. Great voice. Regards Cazzesman
RapidFire Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Emperor - Prometheus - The Discipline of Fire & Demise 4
GaryT Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 people like to crap on the last 2 Emperor Albums, but I think they have some of their strongest songwriting on them. definitely their most progressive and complex album at least. The sound really led into what would become Ihsahns Solo work. 3
awayward Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Opeth - The Last Will and Testament, growl vocals are back, their first concept album, sounds pretty good, I think it will take a few listens to fully grasp what is going on. 3
cazzesman Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Sleep Token put out a version of 'This Place Will Become Your Tomb', that has all the music and none of the vocals. It is great to put on and chill too. I'm not a fan of the Opeth growl vocals but love their music. Is there such a thing as a vocal-less Opeth Album? Regards Cazzesman

Regards Cazzesman Interesting as im the opposite and love the harsh vocals as to me it provides a nice contrast of light and dark much like some of my other fav bands like Alcest, My Dying Bride, Moonspell etc. But yeah its going to take a few listens for me also which usually means i'll end up liking it as opposed to those sugar hit albums that you instantly love yet tend to tire of quickly. 4
Dokken Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 Really enjoying the new Tribulation album Sub Rosa In Aeternum (2024). Lots of clean vocals added for the first time. Looking forward to getting my cd copy in soon hopefully!

Interesting album, enjoyed it considering it’s not my usual genre, I don’t really know what genre this is. 1

Some have said it falls under the goth rock/dark wave genre with some death metal vocals thrown in the mix

I agree with you that it's not something I generally listen to either, but it's been done very well by them. By the way, their other albums don't contain any clean vocals.

I've given my copy 2 listens so far. I'm liking it quite a bit and glad the death growls are back. Wish they included a lyric sheet with the packaging though. 1
