08Boss302 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Pouring rain here in Melbourne today. Nothing to do, sooo, here's My last couple of hours. 2 Melbourne bands (Gutless and Abramelin) latest releases, killer stuff. Abramelin is a sheer monster, I remember them as Acheron way back early 90s as they were local to where I lived, 30+ yrs later they may have released album of their career.. Also, what I'm thinking is my AotY... Blood Incantation 1
Steff Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Love the turntable plus cover art of those albums @08Boss302 1
08Boss302 Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Thank you @Steff I've had it a few years now, it's served me very well. Just dropped the needle in this one now, more unreal music and artwork... 1
Satanica Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Opeth - The Last WILL and TESTAMENT on Bluray (Surround). 3
GaryT Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I haven't had a chance to check out the surround mix yet. Looking forward to that soon.

It's a good album and the two channel (digital) version is very good. But the surround version is even better as it has been tastefully mixed and is even more dynamic. I don't have ATMOS, so I'm listening to the 7.1 channel TRUE HD downmixed to my 4 channel system. Interestingly, there appears to be no content in the .1 (LFE) channel and I actually think this is a good thing. IMO, in general the .1 (LFE) channel in music is probably more trouble than it's worth. 1

All killer, no filler and the sound is INCREDIBLE. Pity the current re-issue sounds like crap as it breaks my heart that todays generation will never experience this album like it should be heard as the production is incredible! If it sounds bad at yours then you need this pressing or different equipment.... Iron Maiden -Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (original English press) I don't know why I don't venture in to this thread more often... A brilliant album, still gets a run at my place as well. It's certainly one of their best. I have the 1988 Australasian pressing, the rest of my Maiden collection is Australian Maxicut. We should compare versions one day TB - https://www.discogs.com/release/539430-Iron-Maiden-Seventh-Son-Of-A-Seventh-Son
cazzesman Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 I saw these guys live a few months back in Melbourne. They were awesome. SQ and lightshow were top shelf. Regards Cazzesman 3
Dokken Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Haven't listened to this in a while Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine (2004) 2
GaryT Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Oh man you're going to send me back down my edgy teen years. 1

GaryT Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Midian was more my jam but cradle were fun in those years, they were rediculous, they were an exaggeration of themselves and I loved it. 1

Damnation and a Day is my pick as I love the more orchestral stuff. They are a very consistent band in terms of the quality of their material.
GaryT Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 No Cruelty and the beast? Bathory Aria is the pinnacle of their orchestral side.

It's a good album too, but Damnation was a bigger budget album and used a real orchestra as they were on Sony Records for that album....it's crazy to even think Cradle were on Sony

powerav Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 (edited) https://music.apple.com/au/album/nordic-gothic/1755593436 Just listened to this 3 times already today, watched a YouTube review where they said they were members of death metal bands doing 80s goth rock, they sure are, very much like The Sisters Of Mercy.
