Yep! That was from our crappy demo we did, with a TERRIBLE snare sound. That was before one of our guitarists left to become a christian rapper... After this the stuff got more brutal, like mix between Aeternus/Immortal/Marduk

Awesome! Yeah, it was surprising and disappointing when Adam decided to become a Christian, let alone a rapper... in actual fact it was good for the band though as the music stepped up a notch or two. Valak actually moved to Melbourne and joined a band called Anarazel, they did an album that is literally just covers of Coven songs, the WHOLE album!

That you tube clip actually has the wrong song name, it's not Arcane Journey, but Hatred, which has some entertaining lyrics:

"The c^*t jesus christ

Rapes the virgin mary

Die, die, crucify

Die jesus, die, die

Bow down to ritual denial

sodomize

pain starts with ritual denial

die jesus, die, die

Life is to kill the f^cking liar"

We had another song called Goat Moon Sodomy that we wrote, rehearsed and recorded in less than two hours with hilarious lyrics (or so we thought).

"Cadavers soon to be

waiting for the sunset sodomy

hear their feeble cries

the children of your god we sodomize

surrounded by lost steel

inspired on the night by deeds of hate

f^$ked upon the wheel

lacerated ass, your skin shall peel

penetrated souls

victims of the devil's cock, you fall

devoted to the wh@re

come flay the nazerene it's what he's here for

those of the cloth

christened in semen

f^&ked on the floor

altar boys dreaming

nothing turns me on more

than seeing nuns on a stick

and christ when he's peeing

ass-impaled pope

jacking off jesus

there is no hope

he's buried in faeces

lucid confessions

blowjob jehovah

mary's in leather

sodom's not over"

I'm amazed I could remember all that!

Was going through a bunch of photos the other day and found a few I took in the late 80s of my room and the "hi-fi" (using the term loosly) back when I was in my mid teens.

Oh the memories....

Okay you asked for it. Spinning this now, Under the Sign of the Black Mark. I still have a big soft spot for this album, although I regard Blood Fire Death as Bathory/Quorthon's ultimate achievement.

I'm the other way round personally with Under The Sign being my fav. but perhaps it was due to this album being my entry point to all things Bathory. 13 Candles, Call From the Grave, Eternal Fire such an assault on the senses.

Equimanthoorn!!!! I first got into Hammerheart, then looked backwards. Now I find Hammerheart turgid and boring, but I gave it a huge flogging back in the day. I think BFD has the perfect combination of Viking and black metal, really well balanced like Under the Sign, but pushing the envelope a bit more.
