Off the top of my head-

Iron maiden

Van Halen

Slipknot (some)

System of a down

Faith No More

Avenged Sevenfold

Tool

A Perfect Circle

Rise Against

Sorry OT guys, ok Daz here goes, admittedly many of these are my favs ;)

With Maiden recommended & played heaps here Megadeth - Rust in Peace (original, not remastered) similar more 'guitary' and fun thrash album compared to Metallica and crew so serious. My first listen to Avenged Sevenfold - Hail to the King.. Metallica much.. surprised not listed Metallica?

With those I now see the sweetness comment on Porcupine Tree, yeah he could do with some hair on his nether regions lol, with some angsty vox, eg Tool, so some Aussie gear worth a listen.. Cog - New Normal, Butterfly Effect - Begins Here, Karnivool - Themata, and maybe Grinspoon - Guide to Better Living, and with Rise Against and liking different vocals maybe try Refused - Shape of Punk to Come.

With FNM maybe Incubus a more chilled vibe, and these guys, though SNA poison after @@mondie shat on them without really listening to them  :P

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmTd7oNZEnE

Also Devin Townsend could be worth a listen, Strapping Young Lad lumped in with SOAD though never heard any of SYL to comment discovering his Devin Townsend Project gear first (and worked back through his solo albums), his vocal range only bettered by his versatility on Ki (proggy/bluesy jammin - start, afternoon, a few cold ones), Addicted (party time!), Ghost (incredibly chilled - morning after), Terria is renowned as his masterpiece but here is a track from Ocean Machine..

Never was a huge Metallica fan.. Thought Megadeth's R.I.P. Was better then any of their output;)

I find Metallica albums can be a bit patchy, whereas R.I.P... pure brilliance from cover to cover  :thumb:

As good as Megadeth is or was especially with R.I.P. their music lacks soul with In My Darkest Hour a possible exception.

Songs like Fade To Black, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), One and The Unforgiven are completely beyond them.

I do have Metallica, sorry. Love Metallica, old and new. Also have 12 foot ninja and love it, following your suggestion in the FNM thread Likky.

I think I must owe you a lotto ticket by now! :D

Shall check your suggestions out on Youtube, thanks so much for your time and suggestions.

Got some Strapping Young Lad going and it would be like Blink 182, something I would enjoy immensely every now and then when the mood takes. Fantastic stuff that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Enjoyed some Sybreed earlier, they are a nice mix of polished yet still rough enough to be heavy. Tried some Ayeron but it didn't flick my switch, as fantastic as it was.

Yes, that's reads strange but it needs to stir the personal juices eh? Ahem.

The DTP is awesome as well, very big productions but all of the albums have their own different personalities, will research a bit better before purchasing.

Caladan Brood- Echoes' of Battle. Just incredible stuff. The mind wanders to amazing scenes of conflict.

I have Karnivool's Asymmetry which I think might be the most technical album I own, I like it but yes, it's not flowing stuff by any stretch of the imagination, need to get 'Sound Awake' methinks.

...and all of the Twelve Foot Ninja albums. ;)

Got an interesting list now, enough of amateur hour, as you were gentlemen.

SYL & Blink 182.. Devin might hunt you down for that ;)

Caladan Brood - Echoes of Battle, where do you find this? I am in Middle-Earth or Cimmeria right now..

Sybreed, lovin this, thanks @@aasza, Daz you been following us on the Fear Factory train?

Karnivool rocks, for Tool kinda gear early Cog and Butterfly Effect really is the business, The New Noraml is a brilliant album.

Funny you mention Ayreon I was all set to post this tube as my last post on this, so I will, love the fem vox over riffage, and so added my fav track of Ki by DTP too, what I like about Devin (and Megadeth) is exactly that, not taking himself too seroiusly, just fun tunes..

6:10 and 9:30 :love

Looks like @@mondie is coming round to those lanky shuriken throwers

Amateur hour lol, indeed, only gotta couple of dozen metals abums, and pretty much the essential gear. Oh yeah could check out Sepultura Chaos A.D. If you are into manga from a few years back you will recognise the first track Refuse/Resist from the movie intro. Also listening to Sybreed you might like Katatonia, kind of metal meets The Cure..

Apologies for thread hogging..

Two spins of Genexus and I'm impressed. This could have come out right after Demanufacture or Obsolete. It might, just might be better than Mechanize I kid you not even though it's a bit less aggressive.

Spinning this.... Opinions? I think it's a solid album. Reminds me of "Obsolete" ;)

Yeah this is seriously, playing Dielectric now, bringing back memories of hearing them, especially Obsolete & Resurrection the first song I heard, for the first time!

More chewbing, and looks to have been posted by the record company first..

Been quite the day of awesome industrial tunes :thumb:

Edit: I still feel it is a little bit re-warmed Obsolete, but still loving every second of it :)

I hate to say I judge bands by their names, but I do, and against my better judgement, I youtubed TFN. Awful, just awful. It's bands like that which caused me to drift away from metal for a few years.

Not exactly metal, but I don't think we have a "Punk: Currently Spinning" thread.

MDC - Millions Of Dead Cops / More Dead Cops

post-150418-0-60992600-1439641640_thumb.

This is classic American punk, social commentary, animal activism. Bought this one new back in 88 when I was but a lad, and still love it when I spin it up every six months or so.

There are some awesome songs on this double album, like 'John Wayne was a Nazi', 'Chicken Squawk', and 'My Family is a Little Weird'.

This music definitely is an acquired taste, you really need to have grown up with it. I don't think you could take it on as an adult. This is an '82 release, and MDC matured their sound in the following years, and slightly softened their attitude. This one though is raw, but well thought out.

Cheers,

Jason.

Ok, moved on to something a bit more metal, Lawnmower Deth's Ooh Crickey! .....It's Lawnmower Deth.

A light-hearted album of British spoof-thrash, but some catchy toons in there.

Now moved on to more serious thrash. Real thrash. Thankyou very much. A couple of great albums from Destruction.

Have just finished the Mad Butcher EP. This includes one of my favourite songs of all time, 'The Damned'. But, my favourite isn't this Destruction version, I'll take the original Plasmatics version any day. RIP Wendy.

And now listening to Eternal Devastation. This is lovely raw thrash, with an amazing guitar sound. They're pretty much all choice tracks on this album, but the stand-out is 'Life Without sense'.

As the guy says, do yourself a favour, go out (or stay in these days) and listen to this album.

Cheers,

Jason.

Interesting collection of covers. I see they cover a legendary Lee Hazlewood song. I need to check that out.

But never was a recommendation for metal fans, made that clear was OT for Daz and they were for FNM fans, and yeah if you searched youtube no doubt came across - "Coming For You" (the video I posted for @@mondie only to show their diversity in a single song and stupidly amusing video clip) or more of their similar crap.. and I agree..

That first EP is awesome and perfect, and wish they had made an album after that, but the next EP unfortunately clearly moved into nu-metal territory, like that youtube video and its album. But their first EP is awesome, last time for sure.

The tube I posted is from that first EP New Dawn, and the only tunes I have been talking about, and stands as a testament to how awesome they were, and should have been, and a crying shame they went horrible twangy nu-metal crap on their next EP Smoke Bomb and debut album Silent Machine, which I didn't even make it all the way through once they did the samba/nu-metal cross a second time, and haven't played it again since.

So OT but if a FNM fan check out Twelve Foot Ninja - New Dawn, last time for sure lol

As Daz said, as you were gentlemen..
