Guest Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Who's excited? Me, me me! If the first single "Nasty" is anything to go by, this is going to be a ripper.
acg Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Not as excited when I was younger and Firestarter was everywhere. Heard a recent JJJ interview with Liam Howlett where he said the Prodigy sound "was like someone poking you" and I laughed out loud at that...because it is true...at least for me. 1
analog brother Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 love the prodigy sound. they are gonna bring back the 90's!

Heard a recent JJJ interview with Liam Howlett where he said the Prodigy sound "was like someone poking you" and I laughed out loud at that...because it is true...at least for me. I believe the quote was "someone winking at you while poking you in the ribs" Anyway, yes, Firestarter was something else when it came out. Especially since Keith had changed his appearance so drastically with the hair and piercings etc as well. This definitely sounds a lot like Firestarter and Smack My Beeyatch Up which is what got me excited. Good to see they haven't gone all experimental or changed their style. Others may disagree. (Where's @@Damhooligan? ^_^)
acg Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I believe the quote was "someone winking at you while poking you in the ribs" The winking quote came after the poking line...my memory is "winking at you while punching you in the back"....but I was laughing so loudly right then that I am likely mistaken
ferchersan Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) Let me give this a quick spin for old time's sake, before checking out the newie. Must say my hopes aren't high. I bought this twenty years ago as a fresh faced sixteen year old. Reminds me of some of the first raves I ever went to. Voodoo People was the big anthem at Voodoo at Sublime on Pitt Street (I was still getting in underaged when they opened). Edited January 21, 2015 by ferchersan 2

Voodoo People was the big anthem at Voodoo at Sublime on Pitt Street (I was still getting in underaged when they opened). "No good/start the dance" was where it all began for me as I was discovering "real" dance music thanks to MTV. I'd always been in to electronic music from the early days of Kraftwerk and Jarre, through the Italio Disco phase, but knew there was other stuff out there. I just couldn't get my hands on it in Sweden. Seeing the video for No good, I was transfixed. I knew I HAD TO get to London and go to underground clubs like the one in the video. A few years later I did get there and at one point I found myself at a party underneath the railway arches somewhere in Sarf London as that track was being blasted through the speakers. "Tick"

"Tick" Dude, it's playing now. I had a GF that introduced me to the first Prodigy album when I was 15! Before that I was going through a big Indie Rock, 60's and 70's faze. Caught me off guard, big time. Couldn't believe I was listening to those vocals. And dancing like a lunatic at the same time. Edited January 22, 2015 by ferchersan
mondie Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 A new Prodigy album would be fantastic, luv 'em. Nasty doesn't do much for me, assuming the Prodigy have released one of the best tracks off the new album I am not feeling great about what is to come.
Damhooligan Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 So far I'm loving 'nasty'. Typical prodigy style Can't find anything wrong with it. I'm excited to hear the rest of the album. And excited to see them live at future music festival

metal beat Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Now this is good with a totally anti political correctness chorus The Prodigy - Baby's Got A Temper (Videoclip): 2
huxmut Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I've seen them live a couple of times... 1994 - http://www.futuremusicgroup.com.au/listen-prodigys-mental-1994-live-set/ and possibly the best three days in world history in 1996, Reading Festival, where the last two acts were The Prodigy followed by R.A.T.M. That was killer 1

To me just sounds like a continuation of Invaders Must Die, which is a bit disappointing (but still new prodigy is cool) as was hoping for something different, and perhaps yeah taking the awesomeness of their 90s and putting a fresh spin on it? and possibly the best three days in world history in 1996, Reading Festival, where the last two acts were The Prodigy followed by R.A.T.M. huxmut Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 The best bit, except for the music, was due to confusion between seller and myself - I got my three day pass for little more than a "Thanks Mate!"
