There are a plethora of songs about Noo York and Chicago and San Francisco but not that many well known ones about Aussie Cities, Towns and Places.

I am hoping we can add a few to this thread

This is my favourite  and even though I have never lived in Adelaide, I like the place and recognise many of the references. Nice subversive twist at the end.

Good to sing along too also

I grew up and went to school in the Parramatta area, in Western Sydney.

Here's Big Dingo with their song "Parramatta Man"

Custard - Pinball Les

Les has given up, he's moving back to Stanthorpe.

Sweat and agriculture, things are pretty quiet at night.

Custard also titled one of their tunes Caboolture Speed Lab, although the lyrics don't seem to mention any of that.

Balwyn Calling by Skyhooks

She sure knows when she's got a good catch
And she just won't let go
She's been searchin' for the perfect match
Her ambition with your dough
A brick veneer prison is waitin' for you

Skyhooks also has 'Lygon St Limbo' and 'Toorak Cowboy'

Yes Skyhooks did a lot of songs about Melbourne.

I like to think this is about Melbourne too but it is never mentioned in the lyrics.

Paul Kelly with the song Leaps and Bounds.  He sings about Melbourne and of course with that classic line with the MCG.  He sang the song at the closing of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

I'm high on the hill
Looking over the bridge
To the M.C.G.
And way up on high
The clock on the silo
Says eleven degrees

This is too easy. Every third song by Warumpi Band, Paul Kelly, Hunters and Collectors, Midnight Oil, Go Betweens,

Four seasons in one day. Crowded House

Aussie bands do it the Aussie way. We are a little more subtle in our geographic references. It's more about the vibe and providing half references to a place in a verse. Even in the Album title, like Powder Fingers Vulture Street for example.

Hell, we don't even need words to talk about an Aussie place. Just listening to this next track sounds like my suburb.
