My first and only SLR was a Canon AE1 with standard lens and telephoto 70mm - 210mm.

Purchased 1984.

While we are sharing I've attached a photo of it.

I know it's a bit dusty and is in need of some TLC.

My fist SLR was a Nikon FG with a Nikkor 1.8/50mm in 1986. I replaced it with a Nikon FE-2 the next year, which I sold for a Pentax 67II in 1998. I still use that one.

Nice to see these.

My first SLR was a Pentax Spotmatic SP500, purchased in 1972.  I did have an upmarket Hanimex camera (is that an oxymoron?) before that, purchased in 1967, which I think may have been an SLR, but it didn't survive my year in Vietnam, and things are a bit hazy about those times :(.

Any way after the SP500 I moved on to a Pentax K1000, which is pretty well where I stayed until I went digital with the Nikon D90 a few years ago,

Cheers

my second SLR was the canon 30…though not the 33 which had "eye control" not sure I was too keen on a laser scanning my eye…something canon dropped enthusiasm on in any case...

That Sigma was all I could afford back then, I was taking so many pics that I got sick of winding that lever to crank that film. At the time I really wanted that Canon AE-1 or s Nikon F serious.

A bit more cashed up, and I was eyeing a Nikon 801, SB-25, Nikkor 35-70 3.3-4.6

When it was getting busy with request I moved onto a Nikon F90, SB-26, Nikkor 35-70 2.8, 60mm macro 2.8, 85mm 1.8, 80-200mm 2.8. all of these I have to this day! The 801 kit I sold to my best man with a few lenses... The 85mm 1.8 is possible the most transparent lens I have. I wonder if these lenses will fit in the current Nikon digital SLR?

My grand dad left me as a kid to play with a swathe of old accordion style kodaks and such. So got plenty of practice hand cranking film. My first slr though when got to be able to afford one was very much power fed with film !

Olympus OM-10 was mine, long-since sold on e-bay, but what a system, so interchangeable. Got (over a period of time) a 70-210 Tamron zoom-macro lens, a second hand 35mm Olympus lens which I used as a standard and a 28mm Olympus wide angle. I also bought a 500mm Tamron mirror lens - slow at f8, but when using 400 ASA film... wow! I also got a second hand OM-1 body as a back up, since it had a manual shutter and did not rely wholly on batteries.

Sold it when I moved to warmer (damper) climes and finally went digital.

I have an Eastman Kodak Box Brownie that was given to me by a former neighbour in 1973. I even took some photos with it at the time (you could still buy film for it back then).

I'm not sure exactly when it was made, but there is a patent notice on the inside with three dates, Feb 1 1916, Mar 21 1916, Aug 4 1925.

Yashica FXD was my first SLR, quickly followed by Nikon FA, FM, FE2, F3, F5, D2h and now D2Xs

Still love the old Nikons, but there's not much call for them these digital days.

Is that a 110?

Yes ... replaced it with a 35mm Minolta years later that was better (mainly because it was fully automatic) ... but still got some good shots (somewhere) out of it.

at the end of the day the 110 film was its Achilles heal I recon ... just not as crisp as 35mm.

My first, a Minolta XE5. I took some great shots with it. Sadly stolen from my home along with a number of other valuable items many years ago.

My first camera bought with my own money circa 1975

Ricoh TLS 401.

Nice camera, both average a spot metering, unique selectable viewfinder for eye level or waist level viewing, Pentax screw mount..... the bug had bitten.

Got a secondhand Nikon F with photomic head and f1.2 50mm Nikon lens less than a year later.

First SLR was a Nikon FM in 1981. Still have it. The bug bit me hard

Added a Nikkormat Ftn, EM, FE, F3HP, & F55 for film, plus a D70s & D600 for digital. Still have all if them, plus a couple of Zenit, a Praktica, a Yashicamat and around 40 old box & bellows cameras. Phew!

My first SLR was a Ricoh XR-1s, same as this one.

I bought it in 1984. Its been all over the place, and I've taken many photos with it. I still have it, although I haven't used it for a while. There is still a film in it, so I suppose I should finish that off and try getting it developed.
