Hey Guys.

I do wish that Alpha 907 comparison thread of mine was still around, but alas it is not so.  It was rolled into this "Sansui Owners" thread quite a while ago.  I went through the motions of doing something about it, but that didn't end up getting me anywhere so I started sorting through this thread and copying every post that I thought came from mine and pasting it into a word document so I would have my own copy of the thread for reference purposes (because my memory is far from perfect and every now and then I like to refresh it by reading what I wrote about certain units) but I never ended up finishing it.

I'm pretty miffed about the whole situation actually, which is one of the larger reasons I'm not that keen on bothering to post/review much these days.  The buzz I used to get from starting threads has, well, not been killed as such, more like pretty seriously shot in the chest.  I still get to it sometimes, but it just doesn't feel the same.

I'm still into the hobby though, hunting for a 90's Pioneer right now.  For the sake of variety.

Oh no. That's just ... I can't find the words right now. That was such an amazing thread: entertaining and educational, and clearly had a lot of effort and generous sharing by you invested in it. 😩😭

A friend of mine in Melbourne just yesterday sold his beautifully restored Pioneer SA-9900. Obviously that's late 70s not 90s, but it could have provided some heavyweight stereo comfort for you in your loss...😔

That’s a shame.

A lot of the social side has diminished from when I first joined. It’s more commercial these days.

I had no idea! That’s just insane - what a loss.

Yep, and I only found out about it because I went looking for it so I could post a link to it on another audio site.  Apparently one of the past mods got a bit heavy handed on merging threads into "owners" threads.  My "So, I bought a pair of LS-50s" thread went the same way.  I wasn't finished with that one either.

And so my past level of enthusiasm has been transformed into my current level of ambivalence.

I really should finish my post searching and copying, then maybe I can have a chat to the mods and see what can be done.

Cafad's previous stand-alone thread on his Alpha journey (and likely a bunch of other Sansui threads) have been merged into this thread, meaning they lose all context and flow as the posts are jumbled up. A real shame!

Best in the vocals certainly.  Depending on the speakers, I suppose.

I hope they can reverse it.  The community and shared experiences are what this site is all about.  Posts like yours are the best content.  If they muck with that then this will just turn into a glorified buy n sell that just regurgitates marketing spiel as news.  And enthusiasts might go elsewhere to meet and share and that would be a loss.

I'm guessing you're after something like the A09?  If you get the opportunity you should have a listen of the older stuff.  My gateway drug into hifi was when my father in law lent me his old SA-8800 that made my mini system speakers sing like I'd never heard before.  From memory, I'd describe the amp as sounding euphonic.  And the blue meters were super cool.

I might try and get that old amp back into my system one day if he's willing to part with it, and I can fly it over to Sydney.

Maybe.  Sansui changed their case design for the NRA but I'm not sure if that was due to them wanting to improve things or because they found a way to make a case that was a little cheaper/easier to manufacture (of course part of that decision was so they could add in a separate power supply for the preamp stage but that may not be the whole reason).  Everything else I can see is so similar to the previous 907 models that I'd class them all as very similar level, top-notch builds.

The A-09 does look nice but for some reason it doesn't interest me as much as the A-07 (I'm not really anti-class A as much as I am very pro-class A/B).  I really like the look of the A-07 and I've missed out on 3 of them so far.  I am looking at an A-05 right now and wondering if it will scratch the A-07 sized itch I have or if I should continue to wait.  The designs are very similar, but the specs are a little different.

My understanding is that there is no easy way to do that, each and every post has to be identified (I could be wrong on this, I'm no software wizard) which is another reason for my searching, copying and pasting.  I'll get back on to that this weekend and I'll see what can be done once I'm finished.

use hifi shark. Selling the whole system will rule out a lot of buyers other than traders who need to make a profit.

The market has been pretty flat for a while.

Whether selling individually or as a package, circa $1500 would be about right.

It will definitely be a lot more challenging to sell a comprehensive package like this at anywhere near the price that you'd get for each item in isolation.

Same thing happened to me with a few build threads that I put up, someone PM’ed me asking for a link to a TT build that they couldn’t find. Turned up merged on an owners thread all disjointed.

Easy to moan…….. but Why?
