Sad news for any Sansui afficionado  - Ishino-san of Ishinolab (and the designer of the Masters brand) has sadly passed away in January 2025.

Ishinolab.net of Audio - Sales and mail order of equipment and parts such as amplifiers and vacuum tubes!

For those who haven't seen this, here's a history of his involvement with Sansui:

Ishinolab dot net of audio - Series

It seems that his website will be shut down soon. If anyone knows an easy way to extract all of this info without cutting and pasting each page, I'm all ears!

Nice if you, or anyone else, could find  a way.

A bit of love for the AU-alpha 907MR last night, including the audiokarma 'dual mono' power supply mod (adding a pair of PRP 1W metal film resistors and removing two wires), polishing the solid copper feet and exterior screws, and setting the bias and DC offset. I made up a handy plug-in adaptor for setting the bias which helped enormously.

I forgot just how much sound deadening and teflon tape Sansui fitted inside these models - it's on just about every surface that could potentially resonate.

I also inspected the driver board PCBs and there's the bare minimum of glue with no impact on any metal components in the circuit, so there's no urgency in going back inside this beast any time soon.

She sounds even better after the service - truly an iron fist inside a velvet glove - and feels like an iron lump when moving all 33kg of her around!

I don't recall hearing about that Pete.  Would you have a link to the thread on AK?  I'd be interested to read up on it.

I asked a friend (with some woodwork experience) from work if he could come up with some alternate side cheeks for the 907i MOS Limited.

So he found a pair of old ironbark planks, and I do mean old, cleaned them up and covered them with a couple of coats of epoxy and then another 3 of polyurethane and they came out pretty good.  More 907DR than 907i but pretty decent none-the-less.

I'd take some pics with them on but they're just a bit thicker than the originals so I can't use the old screws.   Once I pick up some screws that are about 5mm longer than the old ones I'll take some more pics to share.

The probably add almost another Kg to the weight too.
