Tweaky Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Weegee aka Arthur Fellig I have always found this photo fascinating on many levels.
Keith Anderson Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 As far as Landscapes go, for me anyway, this is one of the most iconic images ever, has an amazing story behind it. Galen Rowell "Rainbow over the Potala Palace" 3
Guest Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) Well I would say THE photo of Che Guevara. If memory serves, it was taken by Fidel Castro's photographer in a spur of the moment thing while waiting for Castro to make a speech or something like that? He looked across, saw Che and took two or three quick snaps, one which became the most recognised and famous. A lot of people think he posed for the pic, which isn't the case. Guest Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 quite a story behind Banksy Saw a good doco about one of the most respected graffiti artists in London called King Robbo. He pretty much started the whole thing with breaking in to train yards and spray bombing trains aNd had his tags and artwork all over the city. He eventually retired in the late 80's I think, and only one of his pieces remained intact. Other guys left it out of respect but of course Banksy went and stencilled something over it. Robbo came back and added to it, taking the piss out of Banksy. This went on for a while until Banksy, much to the disgust of everyone, had completely covered the wall. Look it up. Can't remember what it was called but should be easy enough to find. Kinda leaves everyting a bit open to interpretation, but the fact remains that Robbo sprayed amazing artwork freehand while Banksy stencils his stuff. But that's not to say Banksy isn't talented with what he does. Still.... Worth a watch. OK, back on topic.

likwidsh0k Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 http://www.boredpanda.com/famous-photographer-portraits-behind-photographs-tim-mantoani/ interesting story there of people behind some iconic photos, anyone else know any others that are considered iconic ? A couple of unrecgonised and if being honest pretty lame ones in the bunch to go with the extraordinary.. The Napalm Attack In Vietnam gets me every time! Talking of documentaries, iconic pictures, and music I recognise Bob Gruen from the John Lennon pic as I saw him discussing that picture and others in a documentary, but not 100% sure if it was a Lennon documentary or this one.. Rock 'N' Roll Exposed: The Photography of Bob Gruen.
Saxon Hall Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Here is quite a famous one from WW2 It has long been rumoured that it was posed but the photographer swore that he happened upon it by chance 2
Saxon Hall Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Here is a great one of Albert Einstein. Many people think it is a fake but he actually poked his tongue out at some pesky paparazzi 1
